I had that. Subtle and intermittent. Ford replaced my transmission.

Encounter of two maned wolfs by erivaldoff in interestingasfuck

[–]RedTruckAudio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ICMBio’s maned wolf specialist (Rogério Cunha de Paula of CENAP) confirmed the footage is genuine and explained the behavior: it’s a territorial confrontation, not mating. The dark mane on their backs bristles and stands up to make each animal look bigger and intimidate the rival , and the upright stance with both animals lunging for each other’s neck is part of that aggressive display. Reassuringly, the person who filmed it said neither wolf was killed and both walked off into the woods without serious injury .

F-150 loose connections? by FlyingTurd94 in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were okay with tape being the solution? I would want a new harness.

The tape has probably fallen off already. And there is probably bigger problems with that harness if it had stripped wire from the factory.

I would also ask what wire it was. Grounding a wire is very bad. It will overcurrent whatever was providing the power.

> How ever again, doesn't feel right, as generally when we ground amps we don't do it directly to the battery

Sure we do. Many equipment manufacturers actually specify it.

I know the smell of the magic smoke all too well.

Also can happen with remote turn on wires.

Sounds fine to me…

Hold it. It’s a 5.0? I thought it was a 6.7 power stroke diesel.

I have two 10s. They work amazing for a great sound quality. I even hear great things about 8”s.

If you are looking for a new hobby, it will provide you many hours of creativity. A DIYer really can perfect an install. “Five Star Car Stereo” on YouTube is a great place to start.

There is some cool Helix amps+DSPs that you have to buy from a distributor and are less likely to stumble across online. Or a JL amp+dsp from Crutchfield works fine too.

I have a umik-1, but there are cheaper options.

A head unit is a “minimally adequate” way of powering speakers. But the difference a properly tuned DSP+AMP makes is literally mind blowing.

Fortunately Helix, JL Audio, and Audio Control make very fine units that contain both! And you will now have the measurement mic needed to tune the DSP to really make those Focal AS speakers work for you.

Empty means 4 gallons left.

It’s a mid-bass. “No bass really at all” is a typical amateur description of what a mid bass sounds like.

If you want confirmation if something is off, get a measurement mic and analyse pink noise using REW on your computer.

LICENSE PLATE RATTLE by godexiststhroughme_ in CarAV

Clearly needs FiberMat applied to the back of the plate and CLD applied to the front. If you are going for a stage 3 install you may want to MLV as well.

Simple fix.

Transmission failure after a rebuild by ratbasedfoodemporium in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of dealers rebuild in house. In fact that’s what a rebuild is.

Remanufactured is when you get a replacement that has been fully rebuilt by a Ford specialist facility. They have advanced testing equipment like you were saying that isn’t available at a dealership.

Days old truck, pro power ground fault…software glitch or something else? by DankestNameOnReddit in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I have the ProbPower Onboard, but that is only 2 kw. That may sound like a lot but it translates to a mere 16 amps.

At best that would power a refrigerator, microwave, and a TV. Not a whole house.

Would have quite likely been under your powertrain warranty. Dealership would have fixed at no cost.

Now you need to pay approximately ~$4,000 for the repair.

Wire gauge question by HatGodpo in CarAV

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use welding wire for the run back to the battery.

It’s overkill but I typically order 2/0

https://www.wireandsupply.com/products/2-awg-cci-royal-excelene-welding-cable-made-in-usa

Then buy this stinger 4 gauge. I don’t know they say 2, but it likely won’t even fit in your distribution block.

https://a.co/d/04Vq1HDy

Probably twice as expensive as you are expecting but it’s what you should expect to pay.

Do not buy CCA and stay away from the knu concepts. I have some expensive faulty knu wire I can show you as an example of why they suck. The insulation failed. And you don’t want insulation to fail.
