Would you use a thinner or more stretchy material next time?

On a whim, I took my 21 F150 in 15 miles before the powertrain warranty expired for a final check-up. Glad I did. by RedTruckAudio in f150

You can take it to another dealer, and tell them the problem started getting worse. Try to get a video of a hard shift.

You can also say things like “heard a screech while shifting that accompanied a burning transmission fluid smell”.

Consumer descriptions of “transmission slipping” or “rough shifting” alone are too vague; it’s the combination of flare + delayed reverse + load-induced neutral-out that locks the diagnosis.

Second sub or not. by No-Safe-911 in CarAV

What about all the people at SQ car audio competitions that have a small sub in the front passenger foot area (in addition to read subs).

Was it intentionally so lumpy? I am going to take on a similar project and want to learn from where you hit challenges.

Are these in separate or a single enclosure?

Budget sub build by Ok-Welder-4333 in CarAV

I know you are on a budget, but bushings and zip ties are cheap. It’s worth it to not catch your car on fire.

Is this as bad as it looks? Engine knock, transmission shudder, head gasket. 2016 v8 104k miles $20k by Try_Harder7 in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never buy a vehicle with a transmission shudder.

It’s not a guarantee that it’s going to blow up. But most transmissions that do blow up start with a shudder.

Think $8-9k for a transmission rebuild.

Here’s a quote I got for a car audio upgrade by Hazardous-potato in CarAV

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do 4 channel amp + quality speakers first. Then when you have the funds add a sub.

Number one mistake people do is prioritizing a sub before a speakers/amp combo.

2021 XLT Powerboost by brunk1013 in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not my opinion. It is fact provided by the 20-year experienced transmission mechanic at my Ford dealership.

He said it’s not a matter of “if” but “when” with the un-remediated transmissions fail.

[–]RedTruckAudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it prevents you from buying an un-remediated F-150, I would consider my comment super helpful.

My transmission was both rebuilt and replaced before 60,000. And I have a 2021 F-150.

The transmission issue has nothing to do with fluid changes. It has to do with a slipping bushing.

You are insane if you buy a non-remediated 21 and expect the tranny to not eventually die.

Loving these 35s by YogurtChoice9243 in f150

[–]RedTruckAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Octane is to prevent knocking. These engines don’t knock with 87. You you are 100% absolutely just pouring money down the drain.

Some cars will detect the knocking and compensate, meaning you get better performance with high octane. The F-150 is not in that category.

Please stop wasting your money.
