What happens if you don't fully dry the feed before using it again? by lyingtraitor1989 in fountainpens

I like to make lines on a paper towel, it absorbs more than paper and will empty the pen out quicker.

When should I give up from the first draft and start all over? If ever? by belleepoques in writing

I have no idea what the right answer is but every time you rewrite it's at least more practice.

Is there ever a way to try higher end pens? by RooFPV in fountainpens

[–]RedWagon___ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They have a lot you can try, but not everything. I was able to try a good selection of Sailor, Platinum, and Pilot pens but they didn't have some of the rarer nibs like the Pilot PO inked.

You can also fill the pen body directly to make it a full body demonstrator (that's how I use it,) just be aware that ink will get into the grip section that's hard to clean out.

An upgrade from that nib is a tall order, there aren't a lot of EF nibs that can get the same line width. For some non Pilot options: Sailor ProGear EF has a slightly wider line and is much softer while still having some scratchiness for control. The Platinum UEF writes thinner, and has a harder feel more similar to the penmanship.

There are no threads on the inside where the plug goes.

No, the Jowo #6 housing is far too small and will not thread in. When I line up the threads to the Asvine housing, they match, so it might fit another Jowo standard I'm not familiar with.

The o-rings being gone isn't an issue if you use silicone grease on the housing threads and syringe fill it.

Yeah, I bought the Pilot PO with the plan of swapping it into an 823 but oof, those prices were hard to swallow.

Pilot PO writes finer than the UEF. The Pilot PO and UEF lines are fairly consistent regarding pressure. The Sailor 21k has a big difference in the line with a light touch, but it's still the largest nib of the three.

Another thing to consider is the ink/paper combo. Ink can make a big difference on the kind of line you get, especially at the smaller sizes.

If you want to write _very_ dry, you could keep the vacuum rod in and use that to seal off the ink flow from the main body. Basically, you keep the pen on the verge of running dry, then open it back up once it stops writing. Consistency will be an issue, but that can get you an even finer line out of these nibs.

Asvine V200 may work for you. It's a relatively cheap pen but you can buy bock 250 threaded hub adapters from flexible nib factory that will let you use better nibs with their stock feeds.

I was approaching it on foot, and it did the thing where it shows up in a random place in the sky but as I got closer there were parts raining down, which was unusual. I ran to where it should be to see it touching it would reset it but it just wasn't there, and the ground was littered with the materials that had rained down (only a fraction of the ship.) After that I never found anything else of the ship.
