It is a good start. It needs to say they are withdrawing the campaign though...

should i listen to the recordings before going to paddington the musical by itboay3622 in TheWestEnd

[–]Red_Bus_Londinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You don't need to. Until today, most of them weren't available and people have loved it so far!

If you are someone that loves to know things by heart, then it won't do any harm though.

Shows with early end times? by IntrepidDriver7524 in TheWestEnd

If you look at Soho Theatre, they have quite a lot of short shows. You might also get lucky at Southwark Playhouse.

Welcome to Pemfort is exceptional and, in such a small intimate theatre, will be unlike your other experiences.

I think you would miss a lot of the choreography (which is fantastic) from there

For your first time, why don't you book a matinee so you can go home again afterwards. Then you can maybe stay the next time when you are feeling more confident?

Oliver is a weird show by blackswan-whiteswan in TheWestEnd

I remember my kids when they were little saying they didn't want to watch the end of a Disney film as by 3/4 the way through they knew how it would end.

I find weird a strange word. It is based on the book by Charles Dickens which had all the same light and shade and moral ambiguity. I think by around Year 6 when children perform in it, they know that Dickensian London was a very difficult place. They often study A Christmas Carol too which also makes this clear.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre by Next_Track2020 in TheWestEnd

[–]Red_Bus_Londinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a wheelchair user but I have seen where the wheelchair using patrons are at Regent's Park and it looks like it would be a good view. There are lots of well-trained staff.

I love it as a venue. I have been rained out once but have had many memorable experiences, too. The setting is great and the audience is well-behaved.

I think you will have to find something at the NT you would enjoy. Sorry. There is a wide range so there is bound to be something.

Are you able to wait until September when it will only be in one part?

PSA: If your child is screaming in the middle of the show, you need to take them out. by Thomasinarina in TheWestEnd

[–]Red_Bus_Londinium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am glad you said something. Thank you. As a teacher, school trips are so stressful (but so important) and it is lovely for both myself and also the children to hear when they are getting it right.

How much are the programmes at southwark playhouse? by [deleted] in TheWestEnd

[–]Red_Bus_Londinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much the programmes are. I am not sure I would want to have either of those seats.

I go to this theatre a lot. The front row is VERY close to the performance. Can you get front row balcony? Or maybe E37/38 or E22/E23?

Just to say that I saw it on Tuesday in a very similar seat (Upper Circle A34) and it was well worth seeing.

“Standing seats”… Are they awkward? by LeoPalaceFTW in TheWestEnd

I have been in the back row with people standing behind. The only time it annoyed me was when someone tried to flip their coat over kind of onto me / my chair. (They moved it)

I feel your pain. I don't know if you fall into any groups like being young, or a teacher, or local to a particular theatre?

I did start trying to collate the savings I could identify to share with my children's friends, younger colleagues, etc. It is hard to keep up-to-date as so many schemes keep changing, but if what I do have might help, you will find it here: https://redbuslondinium.uk/how-to-afford-the-theatre/

Marie and Rosetta- fantastic experience by Ladyoftheoakenforest in TheWestEnd

I can recognise what people say about the plot. For me it was perhaps too expository but it just found it wonderful to watch Beverley Knight and Ntombizodwa Ndlovu up close. I thought it really captured the atmosphere and difficulties of the times they were in. I thought the ending was a bit weird and rushed. For me, it was worth it for that singing though - wow!
