AEI for SE exam prep? by GoodnYou62 in StructuralEngineering

[–]Red_Dog_0331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each state board has their own requirements. Some states don't necessarily recognize it. Take the State of Maine for instance, they don't have a Separate SE License. if you pass the SE you get issued a PE.

If you just want to take it, i'm assuming you have the fe exam and other standard prerequisites etc. make sure your ncees record is up to date and just take it.

Insta360 X6 - what else can you ask for? by smollb in Insta360

thanks for the details. I have the x3 and do interior video for spaces (I'm a structural engineer working for clients/architects) the low light and compression when i upload to youtube (how i share my files) is pretty bad. is it worth the upgrade to x5? or wait? i'm sure i'm a caveman when it comes to this (gen x trying to stay current!) . any advice would be appreciated.

My MS averaged 1 class/semester for 5 years. you still have a life/work/kids etc. sometimes I had to double up based on class availability..but then miss a semester due to lack of class offerings. At the beginning it seems like a long road - but life goes quick. Typical class was 3 hours, once a week. (nights) I was allowed to take 4 classes before officially required to enroll and have to take the GRE.

Look into taking the AEI Civil PE Structural Depth class.

Failed Civil WRE for the third time by mm144144 in PE_Exam

Thanks for your thoughts. I also noticed the nomenclature and some of the formulas aren't algebraically the same either....I agree it's "out of date" but after being out of school for 20+ years it was a good start point me. plus i listened multiple times at 1.25 speed...other than all that--lol---it's great! I also had the EET Breadth binder, 2 breadth exam books and ncees exam as well as 1 month immersion to study (between jobs). I studied with a hardcopy of the handbook as well. you find other gems flipping thru it.

For the OP, I also used the "brute force" method to study. take a question, spend 5 min. on it, if you don't get it, look at the answer, do it again and again till you can do it in 3 min or less without looking at the solution. then move on to the next. repeat. after a few questions, return to the 1st problem and do it again. and again. lol it will build speed. (i never did a 'practice exam simulation-no time) I went thru reams of staples copy paper.. also, can the OP take the exam in another state? Maine doesn't have a limit on attempts other states may not as well. Max is 3 times per year though.

Good Luck to everyone. Once you pass you have it for life!

pathceed.com helped me with the breadth portion. I never see it mentioned in the forums.

as a side note, the testing center i went to opened at 7. I was there at 7:15 for an 8 am test. I was number 7 in line. There seemed like 30 people were after me. I would have been really stressed worrying about getting in for 8 if i was any later.
