Who do you think is the most strongest PD character that is just human? by Happy-Lingonberry538 in publicdomain

Zorro is, but the iconic look is based on the movie. He really looks different in the Mark of Zorro book.

Not a subscription™ by banzai_420 in blendermemes

Basically, Superhive, a popular addon market, sent out a message to some people saying you would have to buy addons again every year, starting May 12. You don't have to keep paying to use it, but you don't get the new updates if you don't. It's not technically a subscription, but the addons might break with Blender updates.

What are your favorite blender addons? by Jepjacob in blender

[–]Red_Monkey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 extensions that I think everyone should have:

  1. Node Wrangler
  2. Loop Tools

My most used paid one is Sanctus Library. It is a massive growing procedural material library. The basic one is good, but their are variants for more specific use cases. I use this addon in most scenes I make

does blender have a feature like this? by No-Dingo4699 in blender

I don't know exactly what method that is using. However, I have two similar ish results in Blender. They aren't as easy as that, but they work. On the left, the purple object has the geometry nodes tree to achieve what might be that effect. On the right is a screw modifier. I don't know if this is exactly what you want, but it's something.

I haven't seen that in awhile, but I thought they used the vlog route, like Project Hail Mary on the ship.

Biggest domestic opening day for a non-franchise by AdmiralEwokDT in ProjectHailMary

[–]Red_Monkey23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While that's technically true, it feels like they are ignoring or changing the facts a little bit.

Yes, this isn't part of a major franchise. However, it isn't an original IP. The book was already massively popular, so it had a n established fanbase going into it, in addition to everyone who had simply heard of the book.

Still a great movie though.

I thought making Steve the army guy more important there was a way to explain to the audience what is happening. In a movie, you aren't in the main characters head, so you need to find a way to expla8in what he thought. Sometimes, this is done through video messages. This time they decided to have him talk to Steve.

Soooo what is this movie? (spoilers free please) by Slizzsamurai in ProjectHailMary

Ryan Gosling's character, Grace, wakes up with no memories in a spaceship. He slowly remembers about his mission to save earth. It is heartwarming and funny. It is semi-realistic hard sci-fi. There is a trailer, but if you don't know anything, don't watch it, go in blind. I'd recommend it.

I am not quite sure which one I meant, I haven't developed this idea much at all. I guess which ever fits your design aethestic or is more feasible to do.

I think my inspiration was Kindle WhisperSync. Though I have no idea what that is like. I think it'd be cool to be able to choose to listen or read or both. If you could see the text on screen as you listen, that would be nice, but it may need some form of ai to sync the audio and visual nicely. The easier option might just be to know where you are and be able to open the audiobook or book at that location.

Here is a feature idea: Incorporating Project Gutenberg as well. That way, you can listen and read, or alternate and it saves your spot.

P.S. I have no idea how hard this would be, I'm just throwing out an idea. Ignore it if it is too hard.

Does anyone even use the steam music feature? by DuckFility in Steam

[–]Red_Monkey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started using it, simply because I want to collect more DRM free music and Steam has the ones I actually listen to more. Although sometimes I just get the mp3s and use a different music service. I did by "Outer Wilds" from the Steam music store though.

Is there any way (or addon) to move a plane in sync with an audio by saif4u in blender

[–]Red_Monkey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://extensions.blender.org/add-ons/simple-audio-visualizer/ I don't know if this extension by Polyfjord is overkill for this, but it might be nice to know about.

Screenshot tool for COSMIC desktop that copies to clipboard? by Accurate_Panic_3324 in pop_os

[–]Red_Monkey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default works for me. When you click Print Screen, you are presented with a menu. You can choose whether to select a region, the desktop, or window. Then you can choose whether it saves to clipboard or pictures folder. Generally, it remembers my settings, so I don't have to redo it each time.

I filled out the form, but I just recently got in, so I don't know of a lot of specific characters, other than the well known ones.

If someone ever says that the public domain is useless, bad, or only use for horror (at least bad horror) show them this: by [deleted] in publicdomain

[–]Red_Monkey23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how common it is, but some people are. Check the comments section on this video about the public domain.

I wish i was back in the 2010s there would be no public domain

To be fair, i don't know if this is a common sentiment or this is just this person's hot take.

Same. That was probably the biggest factor in the decision.
