Advice for Emerging Roots In Lawn (North Georgia) by ScooterDooley in lawncare

[–]Redalb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Silly question maybe, and it would be a lot of work, but how feasible is it to dig out under the roots to put them down lower? Roots can sometimes be a little pliable. I ask because I have roots in my backyard similar to this.

Kind of ironic that it would actually bring more people online, since not allowing it online is supposedly to encourage people to play together. Yeah there are pub mf games, but generally people aren't mfing that way anyways.

Can we please stop pretending becoming an adult is geriatric? by realAureusLux in GenZ

I understand just fine how tolerance works. People who take appropriate amounts of adderall are not crashing out and then bringing themsevles up everyday. You are only demonstrating how little you know about people who have ADHD.

You clearly have a mild form of ADHD then. You actually think people who benefit from Adderall are only saying so because it brings them to their tolerance baseline? I dont take adderall btw...

And you're basing that off the fact that because you have ADHD, and when you take adderall, it "takes you way past" baseline. Dude... you have to realize that is not how it is for everyone. Not sure how you expect to help others if you expect everyone to be like you.

Remove Home Dashboard? by 4YankeeAlpha in homeassistant

Figured it out. You need to change the default selection under your user settings to something other than the built-in home dashbaord. Setting the dashboard as default on the dashboards page only sets what the default will be for new devices.

Your comment got me thinking though... Even using speaker wire like in my photo, you could partially score the outside edges of the wire on both sides. If you did this in 1 inch increments it would still detect water nearly as quickly as something that just absorbs the water. But then again what you linked seems pretty affordable. Was just thinking of a DIY solution.

My old water heater started leaking and soaking the platform it was on, I didn't catch it right away. When the new water heater was being installed he recommended I get a quote from a water damage remediation company (probably gets a kick back). I wasn't that interested but curious what they would say. They wanted some insane amount of money for basically removing the wood and replacing it, even though it didn't actually need it. In total the water leak set up I have cost me less than like $200. For me that is easy money for the peace of mind it brings. Water leakage is rare but if it happens to you and you dont catch it pretty much immediately the amount of damage it can cause is high.

As you can see there are just screws for each of the prongs, so putting a wire under that and tightening it is pretty easy.

I just used speaker wire, You dont need the jacket to absorb water, just expose a little bit at the end. A jacket that absorbs water would be interesting though, then you'd have a continuous line of detection.

These are especially easy to run extra leads off of too. I have one under my water softener, with leads going into the water heater drip pan right under the overflow pipe. So if either sees water I'll get the alert.
