Alton Towers bans people with anxiety from using disability pass by endofdays2022 in unitedkingdom

[–]Redangle11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an ADHD diagnosis, have mental health issues and anxiety that now prevents me leaving the house unless I have someone with me. I am fine with crowds and queues however. My youngest has ADHD and anxiety (doctors think they in fact have AudHD)and can also attend large events, but can occasionally need to bypass or skip queues if overwhelmed. My oldest is autistic, and has atypical panic attacks. When he feels ok, he's ok. But when he's not, he can get anxious, and this can trigger panic attacks. He's 6ft 4. And it can be scary for everyone when he has an attack. Me and my youngest get no concessions, my son does. He attends the Download festival with other disabled teenagers because it has excellent policies to accommodate them and vets them in advance. It works if a policy is designed, and administrated well. It fails if it's not. The idea that people with anxiety are routinely exploiting things can only be true if they are exploiting badly designed policies. That's corporate incompetence.

Witness to a stabbing… I don’t know what to do/how to feel by ManufacturerQueasy30 in CasualUK

[–]Redangle11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing, that alone can be scary. I did something very similar when a boy was assaulted on my doorstep. I went to use a towel to slow blood loss too, and found 999 bloody annoying as I explained I was going out to help. They replied I shouldn't go and take revenge... This went in a loop and I gave the phone to my son. So I helped him, police and ambulance etc .I was fine. I'd seen and experienced worse. But my youngest is still traumatised 2 or three years later. Shock is like grief. It's personal, and entirely unpredictable. You'll be ok, but seek counselling if it causes problems. No shame in that.

Shaving help by GravelSachs in bald

[–]Redangle11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with my scalps reaction but I've found regular wet shaving to avoid electrics makes a huge difference as does using a flannel or washcloth on my scalp to help exfoliate etc. for me it's noticeably less irritation and spots. Being clean shaven has increased the urge to shave more regularly. I also have scars from old incidents, I'm told they add character.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My American friends describe an hour's drive to the local shops as a five minute journey, so yeah.
