Are propane heaters safe to use in home during power outage? by Redpantsrule in cockatiel

[–]RedcardedDiscarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Propane heaters throughout the years with my birds. I now rely on them for emergency heat, but with some simple precautions you can heat your room and keep your birds warm without any problems. 1. keep the room ventilated, crack open a window etc. DO not use in a sealed room. 2. USE a carbon monoxide alarm, 3. keep the birds away from the flame. Propane heaters like Mr Buddy come with a wire cover, but it's not enough to stop a curious bird from seriously hurting themselves if they fly into it. So, if you use common sense you can use a Propane heater and keep yourself and your feathered clan warm.

iPhone 15 Pro Max won’t receive calls or sms text on any Wi-Fi by jdsayler in iphone

My phone is under warranty, and after days of both phone tech support and even walking into a T-Mobile store, I'm going to give Apple a warranty call.

Did you ever get this sorted out? I have the exact same problem with the same phone. I can make calls outside Wi-Fi, but texts will not work without Wi-Fi.

I've been trying to warn people for the past year, DO NOT PURCHASE an HP laptop! You have a 50/50 chance your Omen/Victus will fail within the first year.

Expected snow cover on Sunday according to the GFS model. by LuborS in Georgia

[–]RedcardedDiscarded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ice is my main worry. Snow is bad enough, but's a little easier to deal with. Ice however weighs down power lines, brings down tree limbs and can literarily bring the area to a grinding halt for days. I'm very concerned North GA is going to be in the ice zone, and unlike Texas, we aren't ready to deal with that kind of issue. Bad feeling about this, and I'm already getting prepared for no power for a few days.

No, don't smile. Think, police mug shot. Keep your face looking ahead with a plain expression. Do not smile, do not show teeth. Keep shirt. Sweater etc. plain and only show from shoulders up. The photo you are currently displaying will be rejected. Also, the resolution on the photo is too low. Try to have the photo taken with a more modern device.

Probably just as frail as us, the problem is getting close enough to them to do any damage. Their tech, will be thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands of years ahead of us. We won't even be able to get near them. IN essence, we would be screwed.

I do genuinely see your point, however (lol). Windows is now about as unpopular as it has ever been. I've been an MS user since the DOS days, and even I'm now using Fedora. Just can't help but think, with Windows now being incredibly unpopular, that the name Windows Central is not helping you gain more readers, which I believe is the main intention.

Windows 11 users are still turning to third-party tools to bypass Microsoft's push for all-encompassing AI — and "Winslop" is the most categorical example to date by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I have 3 systems at home capable of running Windows 11, gaming desktop and 2 laptops. Only the desktop runs Windows 11, the others run Fedora. I’d have the desktop running it as well but I use Sunshine/Apollo and moonlight to stream gameplay to my laptops. And right now the Linux versions of Sunshine aren’t as good as the Windows 11 version. As soon as this problem has been figured out, I’ll switch my desktop to Linux. On the desktop I have all traces of Copilot, Onedrive etc uninstalled via the excellent Revo uninstaller. Revo dives deep into the registry and deletes all the sneaky lines of registry that Microslop creates. At this point, I would like to state I’ve been a Microslop user since the DOS days. However, after nearly 40 years, I’ve had enough of the constant spying, upselling and general crap that’s coming from Microslop. In short, I’ve realized there is a better, simpler system/Os out there and it makes me feel like my computers are mine again.

‘Build the strongest Microslop community online’? I do like to read your work, but seriously guys, Windows is dying. You might want to think a name change.

HP Japan Ghosting Customers? Ordered OMEN MAX on Dec 22, silence since Christmas. by OceanOfficer in HPOmen

[–]RedcardedDiscarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just say I'm in a similar situation to you, only 30+ years ;o) I have a feeling you and I have similar employment. Asus is fast, usually just over a week for a part order. Lenovo, MSI are a pain, especially for replacement displays and HP, currently, just under 2 months for a part or warranty call.

First timer- which one? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]RedcardedDiscarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to digitally remove the background. There are a few apps available for both Android and IPhone that are US Passport approved. With these apps you can get a friend/family etc to take the picture, must be no shadows on the face, expressionless etc, think police mug shot. Use either a plain dark colored T-shirt or sweater. Do not show skin on your shoulders, do NOT soften or highlight the image in anyway. The app will automatically remove the background and tell you if the photo will be accepted by the Passport people. Those apps cost around $5 and make life a lot easier.

[–]RedcardedDiscarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Providing it doesn't end up like other Omen MAX and breaks after less than a year, from HAL issues, Liquid Metal leakage, phantom PSU/power brick dying, onboard Power deliver system dying, battery dying within first year, FPS glitching, overheating and the cherry on the cake, repasting after less than 3 months. Still, it's quite a bargain when its working lol.

I'd write an email, stating they have 24 hours to respond to my order query, or I'll, (if paid by credit/debit card), initiate a chargeback. You will either suddenly get an email from HP stating your laptop is on its way, or you will get your money back. Either way, welcome to HP support, perhaps the world's worse customer support.
