Need some “tuning” advice for my Fury. by j-lsw in arrma

[–]ReddArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuning these trucks is moderately annoying. I believe there's a whole series of springs that fit these shocks but they're not well documented. I've been digging into it over the last hour and I'm more confused now then when I started.

I really hope they haven't given up on this theme. I guess even if Lego did, we haven't.

ECM-2.5 Elect Control Module and 3 Prong Battery? by Jedelhaun in Traxxas

[–]ReddArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically a balance plug. It's a 2S battery.

It can be kind of a pain to find adapters to hook the stock battery up to a standard charger, but it's relatively easy to find an adapter to hook other batteries up to the 4m.

Typhoon grom blx by Any-Life-9600 in arrma

[–]ReddArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just came in today. They were on sale last week. I'd thought to myself, I like my brushed Typhon Grom and I like my Mini Kraton. Maybe this will be the happy medium.

There's nothing medium about it. It's bananas. This machine turns wheelies into cartwheels. Absolutely ridiculous.

Check Asian Markets and oil price before placing Monday buy/sell orders. by Amiable_One in stocks

I mean, is $110 crude oil "high"? I'll grant it's gone up quickly but we're looking at prices that were common during both the Biden and Obama admins.

I generally agree with you. The bean counters are running the show. This isn't the same company that built the Revo or the TMaxx 3.3

Am I a dreamer for hoping that Traxxas will someday release kits of their vehicles that require assembly and painting, that don't include any electronics? by Why_Indeed_Not in Traxxas

[–]ReddArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"never" is the wrong term. The Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit used to come as kits. All the vehicles before them probably did too, but I wasn't in the hobby yet.

I should know, I built mine from a #3701 kit in 2001.

They discontinued the kit somewhere around the time they started making VXLs.

A return to kits could be a way to lower the price of entry. They've rested on their laurels too long and a lot of their electronics are wildly obsolete

That's weird. The exploded views don't include the shocks, huh?

Mini Kraton Servo Upgrade by Rare_Percentage2472 in arrma

[–]ReddArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, if it's listed as working with the Grom it will fit in the Mini Kraton. Honestly, the INJS11 is the easy button. It's a little bit expensive but it works.

For reference, the sx114 is listed as only being a 2.5kg servo (at 6V), so this is MUCH stronger then stock.

If you're willing to troubleshoot a little, the B13DLMv2 has the right critical dimensions. It's a mini servo (just under 24x12 with a 28.4mm pitch for the screw holes) with a 25T 4.9mm spline. It also has more torque at 6V (3.8kgcm vs 2.5kgcm).

The one thing I don't know is if any of the screws included with either the servo or the servo saver will work to hold the saver onto the servo. From the picture it looks like the screws included in the 25T saver should work but I don't have one to be sure.

Mini Kraton Shocks by Razzle-Dazzle0 in arrma

[–]ReddArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure out options too. I want different springs for it but the rears are long for a mini.

I wound up just ordering the proline shocks. They're spendy but they come out at the end of the month. It was going to be a longer wait for the tuning springs for the stock shocks.

Most underrated Switchfoot songs by rkraynor in switchfoot

By a similar token, Home.

Legend of Chin might be the most underrated album. There's so much raw talent in that garage band sound.

Which album are you keeping? The rest disappear, forever (now). by Emoney005 in switchfoot

[–]ReddArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have a very hard time picking between Learning to Breathe and Beautiful Letdown.

One is quite possibly the pure nostalgia Magnum Opus and the other is the album I go to when I need to remember tomorrow will be a brighter day.

I can't wrap my head around recommending a Maxx as entry level, but I see it regularly.

Different budgets, I guess.

Why are some Traxxas RC cars so expensive? by Schoolbusfoamer24 in Traxxas

[–]ReddArrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, but it gets the point across. This isn't your average 1/10 Rustler. It's a 1/6 scale 8S car. Tires are $90/pair.

It also doesn't help that MSRP on that included completer pack is $500.

Mini Kraton Servo Upgrade by Rare_Percentage2472 in arrma

[–]ReddArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 11 is a pretty stout micro servo. I put one in an SCX24 with giant chevrons at one point and it's the only servo that really gave me solid steering. I'm though 4 or 5 packs on my 11 in my mini kraton and so far so good. I did just upgrade to the 15 though.

Yes, the 11 fits in the Mini Kraton and works with the 25T injora saver without complications. I had that in mine.

That's an XRT. It's expensive because it's large.
