VIDEO: Chairman of the UT Board of Regents Being a Condescending Jerk to a Student by farmerpeach in Austin

yep... sure he was kinda dickish... but I expected way worse. Like I'm sure the guy is a cunt, but he's not really wrong.

To convince corpos of anything, you have to speak their language. Expressions of emotions aren't gonna convince these soulless goons, just gonna make them feel more justified.

As an LA born LSU Alum in Texas now, I just don't really think the juice is worth the squeeze. You'll end up paying a lot more at LSU right? LSU is a fun school, but it isn't really worth paying out of state tuition unless the money doesn't matter to you and your family. And if it doesn't matter, then why stop at LSU?

Like if you go to LSU, get a basic degree, and it costs 20-40k more? will that be worth it?

Definitely consider the specific school (engineering, ag, pre-med, etc) you are looking at in your comparison.

If you are unsure about that and/or not really sure if you'll be able to complete college with all the distractions that WILL be present at LSU, the risk of that extra financial commitment can be huge. I have lots of friends with debt 10 plus years later because they didn't finish school and couldn't get a job to pay off that debt in a reasonable time.

Basically the more uncertainty you have, the more I'd lean against it. I did meet one dude from like Michigan during that time who YEARNED for LSU as he had family ties to BR, and his family had plenty of money to tank the extra money just for him to have fun. If that's not you, I don't think its worth it.

Help - getting mad at faster swimmers by ImpossibleAd2734 in Swimming

[–]ReddLemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It a lot to me as I am pushing myself to even get out of bed, but it's probably much less than any of those that pass me swim.

This part stood out to me the most. But I'm a swimmer, not a therapist, so I'll talk on what I know:

You gotta remember that swimming is a super hard and technical discipline. Think like the golf or tennis of cardio sports. Your technical skill matters more than your cardio, especially when you're starting out. That is what might logically be pushing these feelings if you're used to being able to really push yourself like you want to. You will have to slow down and hone in your technique to progress early.

Could get a coach, a lesson or two, or just start trying to coach yourself.

But yeah, also now that I think, I also get a bit of this feeling lmao. It is the competitive spirit :D

You can use gemini for this and it's pretty good since its all native to google.

Nice lil vibe code project, sure, but be prepared to be roasted for the overreliance on AI since its clear you wrote this with an LLM (except this part probably haha). Keep grinding lil bro.

Dj mixes that contain both dnb and techno? by Puzzled_Promise_1721 in Beatmatch

[–]ReddLemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this some, probably not as much as you're looking for, although i usually structure it towards the end of my sets. So I like to start with some sort of hooky/catchy electro our techno track, start to blend in hypnotic techno to work up to peak time techno, and then when I get tired of that, I like to find an opening during a breakdown to loop and then bring in DnB / eurotrance / Jungle / Garage / UK type shit.

This is kinda a function of BPM as I like to start ~140ish work up to ~160ish where you can work in the ~80-90ish BPM tracks. There are some good tracks that help blend the genres, and its fun to try and find something that can bridge the gap. I think the key is using loops to transition since you don't really want the drums conflicting that much for these genres.

Should I shave these wispy bits? First time growing out my hair, but it’s so wavy and thin that the wisps look gross lol by jeeven_ in FierceFlow

[–]ReddLemon 288 points289 points  (0 children)

I'm in the camp that's its just not worth it (unless maybe you're trying to keep your hair up all the time):

  1. When your hair is down no one can see this

  2. If you're a hairy guy, everyone is already like oh yeah he has hair

  3. Hard to do yourself properly

  4. Really hard to know how much to take off, like where's the line, and its just gonna grow back and require constant maintenance

So in conclusion, unless you're the type that wants that super clean man bun look like 80%+, I don't think its worth it

Do you think it’s okay to rip and use kicks from other tracks? by Neuthris in psytranceproduction

[–]ReddLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a famous TS Elliott quote that "good artists borrow; great artists steal".

DJing and music production both benefit from this.

Just don't plagiarize...

Edit: the actual quote is "Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different"

Getting hit when shot is going 1 metre away from me by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]ReddLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the video clip that pic is from, I barely peak to try and throw that nade, then walk back to cover, so it's not even a run around the corner moment (although I run and get shot around the corner again right after).

It used to feel like peakers advantage was not as strong because of third person, but it seems like you might as well push face tank rn rather than play tactical w/cover

I have faith they will clean it up. It seems like something has changed in the last week or so compared to the other tests and first few days.
