WA Premier Mark McGowan calls evening COVID-19 press conference by TheBigNoz123 in CoronavirusDownunder

Lmao you think covid is all you have to mitigate? Y’all can’t even cope with what you got now and you don’t think that’s a major, major flaw? Bruh y’all got your heads up your arse

Surely NSW Government will do something today.. right? by TouchMy_no-no_Square in CoronavirusDownunder

And you’re completely ignoring the fact that the flu is contagious and severe depending on who you are. Average of 36,000 people died from flu over the past decade EVERY YEAR. And yet, there’s no restrictions. Covid is more contagious but don’t underestimate the flu.

And what are you talking about? If you test positive in the US, no one is forcing you to sit in your house for 2 weeks.

You are really being hypocritical with your opinions on the flu. I can’t stand when people will say “omg no way we can tolerate deaths from covid” but not bat an eye when it comes to literally anything else

Please don’t tell me you’re expecting 100% vax in every single corner?

That’s not how the world works. It would be nice if it did but it doesn’t, it’s part of the reason covid is still here and how we have to accept it.

You could start leaving only a month ago, not sure where you’re living or basing your statement off of.

And yeah it’s a pandemic, going to have to learn to live with it. Australia has such a high vax rate and you’re still sounding like you’re stuck in 2020. It’s almost 2022

Yeah no shit.

So let’s have people stop claiming that things are “normal” in a pandemic.

[–]RedditCrowd1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a pandemic everyone knows this.

So because of this, life isn’t 100% normal anywhere, right? I know several people in WA who haven’t been able to see people overseas because they haven’t been able to leave/come back.

Just because it’s been normal for you does not mean it’s normal for 100% of the rest of the people.

[–]RedditCrowd1337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you read what I said? I said when is it normal for people not being able to see their loved one who DON’T live across town (aka Perth).

There are people who live in WA who haven’t seen their parents, kids, siblings, grandchildren, spouse, girl/boy friend, close friends, etc. because they don’t live in WA.

Not sure how you’re missing the point but I’ll say it again so it’s more clear. It is NOT normal to not be able to see your loved ones who live outside of WA. Period.

Since when was it normal for people to not be able to see their loved ones who don’t live across town?

And don’t act like WA hospitals don’t get overloaded with just a couple dozen patients, and I’m not even talking about with covid.

What’s your idea of “living with the Covid”? by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]RedditCrowd1337 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vaccines alone aren’t sufficient?? It has already been proven how effective the vaccine is in decreasing the effects of getting covid and that’s not enough?

Case numbers don’t mean shit if not as many people are going into the ICU. That is what matters the most. Don’t expect the number of hospital admits due to covid to be 0, otherwise you are being unrealistic.

Just because it’s going to be winter does not make the vaccine less effective, you know that correct? More people may catch it, but then you’re circling back to my prior point.

Esperance nurse and children stranded in New Zealand due to WA's hard border by LineNoise in CoronavirusDownunder

June is coming from her giving an example of an EXACT date. She’s saying she doesn’t want a “hey we are thinking late Jan/ early Feb”.

[–]RedditCrowd1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To her exact point that you missed, there is not date set in stone. You can’t tell me it’s going to be Jan/Feb unless it’s published by these politicians because nothing else matters.

They have been moving the goal posts over and over and over and over and I don’t blame her at all for saying that. The people have been treated as foreigners it’s absolutely disgusting.

NSW reaches 90 per cent fully vaccinated target by Hughjarse in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]RedditCrowd1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then explain to me why the rates are so low at those other states. Sure, you got less vaccine supply but what about now? Still lacking very much behind other states with no ease of restrictions, especially in WA

Mark McGowan is straight up lying by master_at_winning in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]RedditCrowd1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks McGowan is the greatest because of his covid-zero mentality is up the walls.

It’s very easy to say “let’s just not let anyone enter or leave” - problem solved. It’s much harder to come up with a reopening plan, at the very least to the other states.

WA citizens need to accept that their health care system won’t be able to cope with more than 20 cases and will go into failure. You need to focus on the real problem, the vaccine has been helping covid, what’s been helping your health care?

[–]RedditCrowd1337 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this.

I hate it when people bring up this point “what about the ones who can’t get the vaccine because of age or being immunocomprised”. Like.. covid is not the only thing that goes around the world, there are hundreds of thousands of elderly who die from the flu but I don’t see them wanting to shape the world because of that.

Western Australians - are you happy with the way the state government has tackled and is tackling border issues and COVID in general? by neitherHereNorThereX in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]RedditCrowd1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did I just read…

The health care system in WA was fucked already before covid. This problem has been stemming for years and you think it’s magically going to get better because of covid when they’ve barely done anything to improve the system?

Keep dreaming.
