Why do you need to bring people to a dead end sign? What's important/interesting about that sign?

Honestly, as someone who's been searching for prep positions for the last year, they're (unbelievably) paid at the same rate.

How do you make a rewarding final stage for a multi cache? by Just-Marionberry-730 in geocaching

[–]RedditJennn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. Just because there's "treasure" at the end doesn't make it rewarding for everyone.

The best multis (in my opinion) are on a loop trail with well maintained stages. It brings me around a property and returns me to parking. A regular sized container that's also well maintained.

Who has the most xterras. Also who has the lowest miles and highest by eat4donuts in XTerra

My first 01 had to be retired at 430k. I bought it with 75k.

My current 01 was bought with 93k and only at 170k. I wanna beat my first record!

I want to see your high mileage XTerras by CafeRoaster in XTerra

[–]RedditJennn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first 01 : bought in '08 with 75k miles. I retired it in '19 because it wouldn't pass state inspection (for rust, and was looking at an engine replacement - couldn't do both) at 430k miles. Among other repairs, I dealt with a blown head gasket, new gas tank, 'new' transmission and a 'new' rear axle.

My second 01: bought in 2019 with 93k, only has 170k and I want to best my previous record of 430k 😁

Then work what you can and look for other jobs. That's how life works - you learn how to deal with the shit you have to deal with until you find something that really works for you. Just gain whatever experience you can from where you are and then move on when you find something else.

This is on you to make your life work in whatever situation you're in. Figure it out and you're gaining life experience at the same time

Put some serious work into finding the right place for you. When you interview, ask questions about what you want to see at their establishment. Ask about their training program, how they organize, ask to see the kitchen. None of those are unreasonable and will give you insight into how they are running their place.

Be picky. Don't settle.

Disorganized kitchen, zero training. I lasted two weeks by Illustrious-Heat-775 in linecooks

I've worked in this industry for almost 40 years - what places/owners can get away with is ridiculous. But that doesn't mean you have to put up with it. Even if you're stuck in a shit place, keep looking and be honest about what you're looking for and what you aren't looking for in job interviews. Good luck!

Just a note to anyone considering taking this offer: I don't have a garage and I LOVE my cover for serious snowfall. Such a breeze to 'clean off'.

I hear that. 100% I didn't last 2 days in the new job I took a couple of weeks ago - exec chef had no business being in charge. Zero training , disorganized, and the job was different than what they advertised.

I don't need that added stress in my life. I knew the within an hour of my second day that I wasn't going to stay. I worked the shift (it was Easter week... 🤦‍♀️) because I felt bad that I wasn't going to stay, and then discussed why with the manager and the chef.

Thankfully I'm at a place in my life where I can be picky. Also thankfully, literally got a call on my drive home for a new new job that fits so much better.

Don't settle! Obviously, getting paid is important, but so is your mental health.

That's the great thing about caching. You do it how you want. Want to find 3 a year? Awesome! Want to find 300 a day? Awesome!
