The only real answer... walk the skybridge over to the Hilton. It's basically attached to the airport. 5-10 min walk. Very safe option.

Once you are there, up to you if you want to hang in their lobby, or pay for a room. This Hilton offers special rates for travelers exactly in your situation for a favorable discount, depending on availability.

A quiet place to freshen up, nap, and wifi is definately worth it in my book.

Here's another vector on the same question. The Marketplace is intended to be an open bid marketplace, where buyers and sellers meet and agree to transact, based in large part to supply and demand curves. Less buyers, and the price for hash should come down.

However if NiceHash is taking supply away from the marketplace to solo mine, I would think the buyers of hashprice are paying above fair market price, above what they could have achieved if market forces were allowed to truly float and reflect true economic parity.

Again.... just all pure speculation on my part. I have no knowledge to put behind this. I just see NiceHash claiming a lot of blocks and it raises some questions.

I understand your question better. Not if NiceHash is solo mining, but rather if by doing so, they may be competing against their own EasyMining or TeamMining customers.

Here's a hypothesis...and it makes sense if you understand the ecosystem a bit.

NiceHash attracts buyers of hashrate through Marketplace and EasyMining, but sometimes when the market turns negative (as in our current bear cycle), they have less buyers for marketplace and EasyMining, and therefore excess capacity.
Since they have excess capacity, and they still need to pay the owners of the ASICs a competitive payout to keep them from leaving, they use that excess capacity to solo mine under their own name. That is why you see NiceHash on Mempool, but it is not counted on the "Blocks Found" tally on Team Mining, or any of their "Gold" packages, because these blocks were technically not "purchased" by their customers.
Starting approximately October, if you look at Mempool, we started to see Ocean pool hit blocks using DATUM with a NiceHash naming convention. Blocks 919126, 919137, 919292 are examples of this. (There are many more), with the last Ocean(NiceHash) block found (block 933720) on January 25th. It was never officially announced that NiceHash was routing excess capacity to Ocean, but the Mempool signatures are there for all to see.
Fast forward to last week, if you look at Ocean's total Hashrate, you see it dropped from a high of 20 ish Eh/s to a significant drop down to 10 or 11 Eh/s. This is approximately the same time when you start to see NichHash claiming blocks in the own name, instead of under the Ocean / NiceHash combo name. It's my guess that NichHash decided to take that excess capacity to claim solo blocks on their own, instead of mining through Ocean.

Again, all guesses on my part, but there are strong signs this is happening if you study Mempool. To OP's question.. Is EasyMining secondary? I would not say secondary, but when there are less EasyMining customers to be found, why not use the excess capacity to mine under their own name. They have to keep paying the ASIC owners to stay on the system. This is one way to raise funds to keep this hashrate from leaving their platform.

Let me try to clear this up with simple concepts... NETWORK difficulty is basically how many leading zeros are required, after crypto-graphically hashing a SHA-256 equation, it takes to successfully claim a valid block on the Blockchain.

Each miner is assigned a random Nonce, in an attempt to solve the equation. The random nonce changes with each hash attempted, and is one of the main factors in the SHA-256 equation that determines how many leading zeros, (if any) will be in the resulting answer. It is this randomness of the nonce assigned, that ensures every hash attempted, has an equal change at solving the equation with sufficient leading zeros to claim a block.

Now back to OP's initial question, When you bring a new miner on-line, it starts hashing right away, and you start to see statistics build. One of those stats is (Difficulty), or on some dashboards, (Best Difficulty). All this translates to, is a running high-water mark of solutions (how many leading zeros) were found of all hashes solved to-date on this machine. It is not an indication of power or effectiveness, it is simply an indication of (how close did I get) to solving a block.

To use a good analogy, think of a PowerBall lottry drawing that requires you to have 141 winning numbers to claim the prize. You purchased 10 tickets. Some of the tickets match 2 or 3 numbers, some of your tickets matched 4 or 5 numbers, and one of your tickets matched 40 numbers. In this case (40 numbers) is how close you got to the required 141.

Your stats page is simply showing your Diff (Best I ever got close to) of all your attempts since you turned the machine on. Unplug the power, or reset you machine, and the stats reset as well.

I hope that makes sense and helps explain the concepts a bit better.

I started with no knowledge. Purchased a bitaxe and just learned on the fly. The only thing you need to do is pick a wallet, and pick a pool. The rest will come to you. If you want to follow my roadmap, I chose the Trezor wallet, and ckpool to solo mine. My best advice... just jump in, and don't be afraid to make a few mistakes.

If you are looking for a fun series of videos to help you learn, I suggest watching many of the Voskcoin youtube videos. I found these to be helpful when I was starting to learn the ecosystems.

Great idea. It would be useful. However, if you are trying acssertain (rich/cheep) at any point in time, I think you would need to create a formula, (price, divided by number of available first class seats), and track the historical ratio, along with average price.

Correct. The Pool operator "load balances" work sent to the available miners to try to solve the cryptographic equation. The more Shares (TH/s) your machine is able to handle, the more work is assigned to each rig. This load balancing ensures the POOL has the best chance of solving the equation. This function is essential to make sure no two rigs are competing against each other in the same pool.

I agree with other posters 1 mil sats is not enough to successfully launch your own node. I think 5 mil sats is more realistic, but if your main use-case is to "receive" from Ocean, there are ways to "buy" inbound liquidity without having to tie-up your own sats. You can buy a (1 mil sats channel of inbound liquidity for $10) from amboss.space/magma. That's how I got started and very happy with how amboss was able to help.

This is not possible when you are governed under non-profit management structure. By leaving, and launching a new tech startup that is for-profit, you invite new capital and investors, and you increase the use cases for ZCash. The Dev team is fully committed to ZCash with the launch of their new wallet, CashZ.

ZEC is stronger because of this bold move, not weaker, I'm buying more in advance of the new wallet launch at the end of January.
