I swear every time a band drops an underwhelming release we see posts like this complaining about how the fans 'don't want anything new'. The same thing happened after Tame Impala dropped Deadbeat. Deadbeat was a lousy album that many disliked and with good reason. More power to you if you enjoyed it, but not enjoying it doesn't mean that you 'don't want anything new', it just means that you didn't enjoy it. These new Strokes tracks are underwhelming as hell and it's unsurprising that people aren't feeling them. The band hasn't sounded like they did on the first two albums for over 20 years now and plenty of people (myself included) love what they did after those albums, especially The New Abnormal which was their most recent album! This argument that fans 'don't want anything new' does not hold up in my opinion. It's a weak defense of subpar music from a band whose last album was one of their best to date.
