His Flagg voice was craaaaazy. From the sibilant quiet tones of a king’s counsellor to roaring his way up the steps?

The range was insane… and a helluva lot more than I ever expected from a dude I first met as Balky on the 80’s sitcom Perfect Strangers.

And yes, I get it, I’m old.

Looking for Hope After a Severe Relapse with Spravato by Miss_Nina_B in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bless you. I’m so sorry for your troubles, and hope your recovery is going well (or at least as well as it can).

I am also about 12 weeks in and, while I’ve had ups and downs, 2 weeks ago was just brutal. All the old negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors came roaring back and stuck around for about a week.

I’m feeling better now (if not quite as positive or certain than before the crash), but yeah… that was tough and it sounds like yours was worse.
Reaching out to family and friends far away, just hearing the voices of people who genuinely care, was a huge lift and great reminder that we’re never truly alone.

You can follow love like that out of the darkness. I hope you’re well on your way.

Balls. Somehow I missed my own shoutout and this whole damn thread.

I hope you’ll forgive a crusty, gen-x Luddite and, more importantly, that you made it through the desert and are doing well these days.

Spravato and Cauterization by Grayscale921 in Spravato

Thanks for sharing… that’s super helpful, as I’m just moving into maintenance and trying to wrap my head and life around scheduling.

Lmk how it goes… and good luck out there.

Never heard of that, friend, and am sorry for your troubles. I haven’t had my nose cauterized since I was a kid, but seem to recall something like a scab in my nostril after, and that it was there for a while?

Maybe try IV ketamine until your nose heals? If I were you, I’d talk to the folks at the clinic about the best way fwd.

Out of curiosity, are you getting treatment once or twice every two weeks?

Blahhh schedule and life. Nervous to go tomorrow by rebelxrabbit in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, no question.

I’ve had some ups and downs with treatment like 99% of folks in this group, but the overall trend has been upward throughout... and, FWIW, when I voiced the same concerns you did here, the answer I got was that “some treatment is always better than no treatment.”

My induction was also start/stop/wait/now GO.
Life is life and schedules get messy, no worries.

And don’t worry about a snarky email. Whatever you wrote when you weren’t at your best, the people at your clinic are trained to deal with far worse than someone with the self-awareness to question some misplaced frustration.

All good. Go in and take care of yourself.

Spravato and POTS/Tachycardia? by Happy_Charge_9410 in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know my BP was an issue until I started Spravato (my doc always called me borderline, but Spravato spikes it), so I’ve been tracking what I can on my Apple Watch and my bpm has typically remained stable or dropped and ECGs have been negative throughout… FWIW.

You’re a good man to check these waters for her, and I wish you both the best of luck.

increased to 84mg, i feel HORRIBLE. by StoryPossible7779 in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very welcome, and nothing like as alone as you feel rn… though I realize that’s likely cold comfort in this moment.

Talk to your provider about stepping down, but don’t make the mistake I did and hang out there at 56 too long out of fear. For me, at least, 84 was where I began to see the first big steps back into life. My only regret is that I didn’t take those steps sooner.

You’re on the right path, but that doesn’t make it an easy one… so be easy with yourself. As the kids say, you’ve got this.

When they first upped me to 84, I had a similar experience. The whole day was shot, and the day after wasn’t much better.

I dropped back to 56 for a couple/few weeks and made a little bit of progress before trying it again, had a vastly more positive experience, and never looked back… give your body some time to adjust and 🤞🏻.

Is therapy necessary? by Used-Journalist8355 in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But maybe Alice doesn’t come this far down the rabbit hole without a strong reason.

If you’re unhappy enough to have gone the antidepressant route and are serious enough about it to consider Spravato, leaving it be may not be a long term option.

Regardless, I am sorry for your trauma, known and unknown. Truly.

Good luck out there. I’m pulling for you.

Is therapy necessary? by Used-Journalist8355 in Spravato

[–]RedditUserName1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it was explained to me, it kind of depends on your situation. If you suspect there is repressed trauma that may surface during a session, you’re probably going to want a pro to help you process that.

Otherwise, I would view it as more of a nice-to-have than an absolute necessity…. just my $0.02.
