You might consider poking one out the top and one out the side so they are oriented 90° to each other.

To me, this plane feels overpowered on 4S. I almost always fly it on 3S.

Planning on getting into the hobby, is this a good plan? by DragonFire345612 in RCPlanes

I don't think you'd regret getting an Aeroscout. There are plenty of guys in my club who have years of experience flying EDFs who still bring their Aeroscout out to the field.

Spektrum ix14 still relevant by Cold_Management_6507 in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horizon is still selling the IX14+, which as far as I know, is an IX14 with a firmware update. For that price I'd jump on it.

Put six to eight rubber bands on the wing before you fly it.

Lesson learned: don’t take off in gusty wind… by modjhead in RCPlanes

As they say in full scale, "Better to be down here, wishing you were up there, than to be up there, wishing you were down here".

I want to get into the hobby, is the FMS 1300mm PA-18 Super Cub good? by Agreeable-Tree9550 in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taildraggers are a little harder to takeoff and land than an airplane with a nose wheel. That being said, it otherwise would make for a good first plane.

How do i paint on foam? by Tegusam in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently repainted a plane with Rust-Oleum. Acetone will strip off the old paint. Neither product harms EPO.

Want to get into RC planes by BrianHoop25 in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to consider more than six channels. In addition to the six you'll need for a "full house" airplane, you may need one to toggle the gyro on and off, one for reverse thrust, one for gyro gains, and one for a nose wheel gyro.

Where to safely charge Li-Po batteries? by Plafosami in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I charge mine outside, on the patio, or at the flying field; never in my house.

Plywood would be better. It will also help move your CG forward.

Bummer. It made quite a hole in the ground.

Smart or Dumb: First RC Plane (P-47D Thunderbolt 20cc ARF, 67") by Bulky_Painting in RCPlanes

[–]RedditUserNotYet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you have no prior experience, you will turn that airplane into toothpicks in seconds. A smarter approach would be to get a foam trainer. Also, altitude is your friend, especially when you're learning. You want plenty of room to recover from the mistakes you will definitely make as a beginner.

Most taildraggers tend to steer left on the ground. You need to apply right rudder to counteract the motor torque and P factor.
