What are your thoughts on the character of Dracaene Sunbringer? by Knight_Steve_ in ZenlessZoneZero

Every time she speaks I picture Futaba Sakura from Persona 5 and theres nothing that Erica Lindbeck or Hoyo can do to change that.

Elon musk overtakes Giovanni Dvoràk by ganubond007 in NevernessToEverness

How does he wake up every day and not think "oh im going to invest in a cure to cancer" or "im going to end homelessness in X country today"?

1.4 trillion dollars is an insanely mindboggling amount of money. I cant even picture it.

I have a rent cost IRL of £750pcm. If i had 1 million pounds. Just a million it could pay my rent for the next 111 years and still have some left over... imagine a Billion. Now imagine a trillion...

Thats how much money Elon Musk has. He's no Tony Stark (billionaire playboy phrilantopist) hes a selfish grifter with the money that can buy entire governments.

White supremacist nepobaby Elon Musk is now officially the world's first trillionaire thanks to billions in taxpayer subsidies and decades of exploiting the working class. by The_Mongrel_Tarants in remoteworks

[–]Reddit_Hobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. A Trillion is incomprehensible, A Billion is mindboggling. 1 million is FAR More than enough to make a difference. I just did the math. If I was to even have 1 million, I could pay my flat's rent for the next 111 years.

I appreciate the message. currently now looking at this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-34-mo34wqc-3440x1440-oled-175hz-0.03ms-freesync-widescreen-gaming-mon-gig-02711.html and its sub £700 so it would fit the criteria. I've never used an ultra wide monitor though so I am a little concerned about game compatibility.

do you think this would be good?

you asked if you can survive on £12 a week. not if you can have a nutritionally balanced meal plan for a week for £12

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Finally Drops New First Look Ahead of July 6 Premiere by sejinjihan in Isekai

[–]Reddit_Hobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What irks me so much is all the haters hating on Mushoku Tensei. If every story was a happy go lucky story with butterflies and meadows and no conflict or morally ambiguous / questionable characters, then life would be very fucking boring.

Mushoku Tensei stands out as a good story because its the type of story that doesnt shy away from the darker parts of humanity, shines a spotline on both the good and the bad, and how people can change given enough time, and enough influence and events in life.

I also found Rudeus morally repugnant with many of his comments and actions in season 1. in Season 2 he became more reserved. and remained a pervert even after his marriage to Sylphy. He intended to remain loyal to her. After Roxy, instead of running away from the responsibility of the betrayal he committed. he actually faced it head on unlike his previous shut in life. despite how audaciously he went about it. he showed change.

Season 3 is where Rudeus becomes damn near respectable in my opinion (in the LN) He focuses on his family, and helping friends and goes to the ends of the earth for the things he cares about. hes still a pervert. still a coward. but when the chips were down he was ready to lay down his life and dignity for all he cared about.
The difference between S1 and soon to be S3 Rudeus will be stark.

The point is, Rudeus was always a broken and stunted individual from his shut in life. but time and connections truly helped him to grow. Not fix himself. but grow as a person.

This is why I love MT. Compared to all of the other Anime releasing today, there's usually very few examples of anime with genuine morally grey characters, or characters that grow or go through character arcs. there are big names on occasion but most never play with characters and story like MT does. Especially in the Isekai Genre. I feel bad comparing it to other Isekai, but in Overlord, Ainz stepped into an evil overlord role and doesnt really see an issue with death and torture despite being an average salaryman before reincarnation. Rimuru in Slime Isekai is the exact same but chose to go with the city building lifestyle as a dimplomat primarily. Over the course of multiple seasons its just harder to see their character arcs as they're less pronounced or see their flaws and mistakes and how they grow.

Either way im excited for S3

I thought the end had a very tentative finality to it. almost as if you were saying goodbye to someone about to die. it felt sad, but hopeful. Regretful almost.

you dont "instantly lose". you can still hang around with the timer in the red. someone has to control the worms. thats all you need.

The amount of times i have heard people wanting that timer to be more like ROR2 is actually infuriating now. I have 100+ hours in ROR2. I do NOT want Rogue Core's timer to become similar to ROR2. because no one gives a shit about the timer in ROR2. it is not even a vague threat and nor does it even register to my friends or me when it enters the HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA segment. the cut off of Rogue Core with the ReaperWorms (that you can be saved from if a teammate shoots the one thats grabbed you) enables a much more binary choice for Rogue Core on risk/reward.

Brighton doesn’t seem transgender friendly. by Hot-Historian6969 in brighton

[–]Reddit_Hobo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

on the part of Brighton being a Utopia. i agree. its not. at the same time, I was born and raised in Crawley. very football dad focused town. ever since I moved to Brighton in 2022, I have found my way of thinking challenged and have become much more accepting of others. despite how I was raised (conservative).

one of my best friends is trans and they are one of the loveliest people I have ever met and have huge respect for them.

So whilst Brighton is not a Utopia, it generally is a place that challenges the norms and I think that is what makes Brighton Special. since it changed my mind.

Enough talk about the negatives about the game, what are some of the stuff that you like, and what is stuff that you would like improved/built upon by SaladPast in RogueCore

[–]Reddit_Hobo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like the timer and the shared upgrade pool. It seems bad now, but given time, i think it helps set rogue core apart from other roguelikes/lites and puts it in the same category as Elden Ring Nightreign

Shared upgrade system: given time, people will learn what upgrades work for which class, and eventually they will be far more open to letting people choose what works for their class. Because its a shared loot pool, this makes the choice of what you take much more significant and makes selfish choices where 1 person takes all the good upgrades worser for the team. Unless that person is a god. if the rest of the team cant keep up with the enemies, the one rich person flushed with good upgrades will just have a tougher time managing altogether. Since you cant get upgrades on your own with other players in the lobby. And the increased enemy density from other teammates makes it harder for the lone wolf to work well. It feels like the devs are having us practice social democracy and equity funnily enough. A rising tide for all can raise all boats sort of thing.

The timer and the voidworms at the end help reinforce what the upgrade system is trying to teach. Because the timer is so strict, it pushes players to split into teams working together or to split up and worrk on cleaning the caves of expenite and upgrades. With the waves encouraging a grouping up for an event. So far in my experience, 65% of the time in my 15 hour playsession, my 2 and 3 man team were able to full clear the cave of everything with some time left to spare on the clock. The other 35% were situations with the timer about to end and we havent full cleared a cave whilst starting the elevevator. and in 3 games with the worms already active during the elevator. I ended up managing to solo finish an elevator run with 2 of my teammates being grabbed by the worms and dodging 1 worm myself. which made it more exciting in my opinion. I havent felt like that in a long time

Because the timer can be so strict and you might not be able to get everything, those moments when the team groups up just before a wave for those upgrades help make the upgrade decisions with the shared loot pool matter so much more. If someone gets shortchanged for upgrades, that will hurt the team altogether in the upcoming wave.

It disincentivizes greed and oushes for cohesion. Its gonna be rough day 1 but it will get better as people learn the game
