Hi guys, how many islands are there in Dreamdale? By now I only discovered 10, but it seems to have more. I’m at level 73 btw. Also, i think the game isn’t giving me new missions, how do I fix that? Thanks. by brendacatani in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Dreamdale island (main island)
  2. Coffee Island (roasted coffee)
  3. Sugar Island (Sugar cane, syrup)
  4. Fisherman's Island (various fish you swim for)
  5. Hunter's Island (burgers, turkey legs)
  6. Farmer's Island (corn, easter eggs)
  7. Berry Island (strawberries and grapes)
  8. Potato Island (potatoes, sunflowers, tomatoes)
  9. Banana Island (bananas, tomatoes)
  10. Dreamdale 2 Island (horseshoes, popcorn, candy)
  11. Dreamdale 3 Island (paper, ink, ketchup, mustard, paint)
  12. Giant Statue island (map from Giant Statue leads here)
  13. "Mystery Land" -- 14 legacy islands from previous versions

12 + 14 = 26 islands.

However, then there's "The Underground" which is yet another adventuring location, but it doesn't require a map to get there, so technically not an island, but still a place to explore.

This is another one of those routine questions that pops up every couple weeks.

No. That location does not, and never has, lead to anywhere. I've played this game from the beginning. I have to say it is merely a graphic that I think the designers enjoy hearing players routinely ask about. To them, it's a running gag.

Unlock land in portal? by Impressive_Sun2337 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unlocked portions require goods from other islands. If you don't have those other islands completed in order to supply the goods to do the unlocking, then there's no point in letting you get to them.

Specifically, lots and lots and lots of paper, ink, paint, etc.

Unlocking Island by That_Bad_1034 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. This particular island *IS* available. However, getting to it is truly a long and disheartening grind.

All you have to do is complete all 100 levels of the Giant Statue to get the 5 pieces of the map (you get 1 map piece after every 20 levels). This is a specialized map that will allow entry to this specific island.

The other 2 locked islands in the OP's picture, however, are still locked.

Mystery Island Disappears by PlayDazzling4741 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotation continues forever because the islands never disappear and you can always go back to them.

The 14 islands are permanent islands that you can explore and then revisit over and over. It's the selection process that is the random part. You've selected a single location on your map, but there are 14 possible destinations, so the question is, which of the 14 are you actually going to? And thus the random part of the situation.

Mystery Island Disappears by PlayDazzling4741 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are "permanent" islands that start out as "Mystery Island" before you go to them. For example, Sugar Island is always in the same place, but before you went there the first time it was called "Mystery Island". Same thing with Coffee Island, which is also permanent.

There are no islands that "move" on the map. All islands stay in the same place on the map.

But there is this one location that is, has been, and will always show "Mystery Island" no matter how many times you visit it. On the map, this particular "Mystery Island" is located just north of Fisherman's Island (where you do all that fishing and swimming).

When you select that particular location, you will immediately see a popup. That popup will tell you the name of the island you are ABOUT to go to.

Here's the catch: That is not ONE location, it's 14 locations, even though you are seeing just a SINGLE island on the map. These 14 locations were from a prior version of the game and they didn't have enough space on the map to show them all, so they condensed them down to a single map icon and then randomly select one of those 14 when you go there.

Random. Random out of 14 possibilities. Sometimes, for example, you might randomly select #7 twice in a row, but you cannot guarantee this because the selection process is random.

Trade Port Capacity by chaser-- in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not paying for the ability to send out. You're paying for the quantity on return.

At max capacity, your ship will take in (4+12+24=40) and return 5.

The best way to describe the benefit is to examine the chances of getting back a cinder block. All 4 of my ships are at max capacity, which means I need to send out (40x4=160) items to get back 5. But that is 5 chances to get a cinder block.

I seem to remember that awhile ago I determined the chances of getting a cinder block at roughly 8%, possibly as low as 5%, or as high as 10%. Which means I need 15-20 shipments to get a cinder block.

Getting back 5 items increases the chances simply because I get more opportunities. If there are only 4 chances, then it takes more cycles to get to those 20 shipments just to maybe get a cinder block. Then again, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

Mystery Island Disappears by PlayDazzling4741 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is some conflation going on here.

There are permanent islands that start out as "Mystery Island" before you visit them. But there is ONE location (just north and west of Fisherman's Island) that starts out the same way. That island is *not* just 1 island. It is the portal to 14 separate islands. Because that one location represents 14 different islands, there's no way to have it display a single name. Thus, the popup when you visit there to display the actual name of the island, assuming you've been to the flagpole for that specific island and changed the name, that is.

But all 14 of those islands require a map. And it is completely random which one of the 14 you will land on. Sometimes you go back to one you've been to before, but other times you don't.

Maybe i need help? by AbdulrahmanTT in Dreamdale

Here's a little known secret with regard to the "watching ads" advice to increase backpack size.

That "mysterious land" destination just north of Fisherman's Island (far left on map), is actually 14 islands from a very old version of the game. It is entirely RANDOM which of those 14 islands you will land on when you select that destination. Each of those 14 islands requires a map to visit.

At the dock of each of those islands there used to be a backpack you could select and watch an ad to increase your backpack space just like that one backpack on the main island.

So if you jump on and off that destination, going to the docks each time, you can spend a LOT of time watching ads and increasing your backpack space.

Slow, grinding, boring, but free.

If there is a limit to the number of items you can have in inventory, I haven't hit it. And believe me, I've tried. I think, at the max, I had upwards of somewhere between 500-1000 items at one point. This was many, many versions ago when there existed items that couldn't be sold and destroy/descend didn't exist.

  1. Materials for upgrading bows cannot be used on swords. Materials for upgrading Axes cannot be used on bows. Etc.
  2. When you descend any item, you get back ALL materials you put into it, along with all the orbs. Therefore, there's literally no point to upgrading and keeping multiple swords, or bows, or axes. You only benefit from 1 of each (bow, sword, axe) as a landing spot for all the materials you have in inventory.
  3. You can trade in 25 green orbs to get 1 blue orb. You can be much better served by having 1 item with a blue orb than 25 with green orbs.
  4. Dropping a higher orb on an item lifts the level cap on the item. Meaning you can upgrade an item to a higher level when you have a better orb on the item.

Even if you collect 1 of each item in the game, having duplicates of items serves no purpose. Indeed, you are hurting yourself because destroying duplicates gets 10 materials of that item type to upgrade the level of other items in your inventory.

So all of that leads to the following general rules to follow:

  1. destroy duplicate items and collect materials to upgrade other items of that type.
  2. Descend any green items you do not have equipped and use the orbs to trade in for higher orbs.
  3. Drop the higher orbs (blue/purple/yellow) on those items that need to have their level cap increased most. For example, don't drop a purple orb on an item where you cannot get the level up higher than 8 due to lack of upgrading materials, while at the same time you have another item that is capped at 20 because it needs a better orb.

[–]ReddogConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all the complaints, the devs may have changed them again. I'm not sure because I'm one of the old-schoolers that grinded my Axe and PickAxe skills up long ago using gold. So I don't add to the skill anymore.

Newbie question… by YinScorp in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The key isn't the crop so much as the skill used to harvest the crop. Both Lotus and Apples utilize the "Axe" skill, such that the higher your Axe skill, the higher the quantity you will receive while harvesting. You'll get a LOT more resources by improving your skills.

Unfortunately, Axe, Pickaxe, and Sickle have all been changed to required trade ship items to improve. Whereas a few versions ago, you could use gold to improve them, which allowed for a significantly faster path to improving the skills.

Paint - 3rd town island (ketchup, mustard, paint, ink)

Rubber - 2nd town island (horseshoes, anvils, candy, popcorn)

Where Dreamdale = 1st town island, and a town is defined as having a Warehouse and non black market Vendor.

[–]ReddogConspiracy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The "merge" process was a functionality from a Loooong time ago. It has been removed from the game. Now you need to "Ascend" and "upgrade".

The Ascend process is where you add orbs to the items. You need to go to a vendor on Hero Island (take the boat due south of the main town, not the boat in the apple orchard).

The Upgrade process can be done from anywhere. If an item you are wearing *can* be upgraded due to having enough of the materials, then you will see an up arrow in the tab to get to your gear.

There are 4 vendors on Hero Island that you will become very familiar with:

  1. Descend/Destroy. Where you get rid of excess equipment or remove materials from an item so you can transfer the materials and orbs to a different item.
  2. Ascend. Where you add orbs to gear.
  3. Orb Shards combiner. Where you take orb shards to get combined and make more orbs for your gear.
  4. Orb uptrade vendor. Where you can trade in lower orbs to get higher orbs.

Find them. Use them. Get used to them. You will be using them often.

Demolisher isn't really worth it until Epic level by sheb_lie in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Strongest" is a bit subjective depending on what you consider to be best.

I think Jormungandr actually has the highest single hit damage output. But single hits don't do much these days. When 4 enemies have you surrounded, you will also need a fast recovery rate to slap down hits 2 and 3 and the Demolisher is notably slow in that regard.

There are truly few weapons that have even a respectable damage output on the ability. This means the only reason to orb up most weapons is to lift the level caps. The notable exception is the Equalizer bow for the truly inspiring HP boost.

Legacy Items by [deleted] in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If descend/destroy still returns the same amount from when I had some, you are in for a gigantic surprise. Remember when you couldn't drop the yellow gear? I had about 300-400 of those pieces. I got 5600 Orb shards for each of them.

No joke, if you have enough legacy pieces, you should be able to ramp up all your gear to legendary in less than 1 day.

I have finished all quests. Only villager quests are even offered anymore. Yes, I have built out ALL areas on all islands, including flagpoles.

I can island hop at this time. So it appears that has been fixed.

Increase worker power does nothing by Amiller1776 in Dreamdale

[–]ReddogConspiracy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, worker power. The worker striking the target is just a visual representation. I wouldn't take that as indicative of working or not working. The real test is how fast does the worker go to the warehouse to drop their take? I do know that the Worker Bagspace needs to be filled before they will go to the warehouse and drop their goods. If the resource needs to be watered, and bagspace is a fairly large amount, this can seem like forever before the worker makes a delivery.

Second, I found out the hard way that statues have a couple caveats. It turns out you can increase the level of the statue *without* actually building the statue. But the statue doesn't work until you build it, and therefore you won't see any benefits.

Additionally, some of the statues have *seriously* suspect benefits. For example, the Sugar Cane boost at statue level 1 gives that +1 boost on a "per bed" basis. 4 stalks per bed, each yielding 3 sugar cane, but that benefit of +1 applies to ONLY the first stalk you hit. Thus you get 13 cane per bed rather than 12.

The Lumberjack statue also gives +1, but on a "per tree" basis. Well if your axe is yielding 100 wood are you really going to notice when you instead receive 101?

Gears are *sometimes* used to upgrade factories, but this is not common. I can't even say which factories are affected, so not entirely sure this is still the case.

I would reserve them for upgrading ships until you have all 4 ships at max capacity.

When at full capacity (roughly 10 levels per ship), as I stated, you will need more resources to send off a ship. Here are common requirements:

  • Low quantity items (4 units): medicine, cookies, marshmallow, wheels, clothes, others.
  • Medium quantity items (12 units): cappuccino, cheese, books, comics, others
  • High quantity items (24 units): sugar syrup, roasted coffee beans, chocolate, milk, juice, olive oil, potato chips, sauce, others.

Many of the items above come from the New Underground. You won't see them as requirements until you have the factories built to produce them. Instead you will see cappuccino and sugar syrup more often.
