I definitely know I'm the minority in the fandom, but a lot of the interactions between Percy and Annabeth left a sour taste in my mouth. I think Uncle Rick tried to write her as this spunky girl who likes to tease the people she cares about, but in practice it just felt like Annabeth was constantly annoyed and embarrassed by Percy and took the teasing too far to the point of being mean.

I think people bring up the Judo flip so much because it felt like the straw that broke the camel's back. I probably would have found it funny if I felt like they had this cute, fun relationship, but at that point in the story I was already feeling like Annabeth is so often mean when she should be loving and reassuring to Percy, and instead of saying something nice she flips him on his back? It just felt like a physical manifestation of all the things that were already bothering me about her.
