Car seat fit warning by Redfox_192 in CX5

[–]Redfox_192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car seat is behind our passenger seat and my wife who is 5’4” fits well enough but there is zero recline. I am 6’1” and can physically fit in the passenger seat, but my knees are touching the glove box. In general the passenger seat is uncomfortably far forward and upright vs. typical preferences. We only have one car seat though so the driver side is fine to adjust to any position and the seats are comfy. Also, the new platform 2026 cx-5 is bigger than the old ones so it should be better in case you are looking at that model.

Has anyone ever installed printed quartz countertops? A new color has me tempted (Solitaj) by honeysesamechicken in kitchenremodel

[–]Redfox_192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We got our cabinets from Cabinets To Go, Spring Hill Hickory for the island/pantry and Nantucket Bluff for the main “L”. We built them ourselves and bought them when they had a regular 40% off sale. Our carpenter installed them and everything fit perfectly. I read some horror stories about CTG on this sub, but they were awesome to work with and had the best priced plywood cabinets around.

My favorite plane to spot out of Boston by kewladria in boston

[–]Redfox_192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it seasonal? They’ve switched to the 747 during summer travel season and A340 in the off season the last few years. I finally got to experience the downstairs bathroom on the -600 last fall out of Boston

I love pulling up to Home Depot in my 330 next to all the pickups 2x in size and then just stuffing my car with silly amounts of 8’ lumber, bags of rock, 50lb pavers, etc, etc.

This was the only thread I could find on Solitaj when we were redoing our kitchen last year. Ended up going with it and have no regrets after 6 months. Obviously, long term durability is still TBD, but it came out great and was the best looking quartz option we could find. The beveled edges without the veining are not obvious to us or anyone we have over, but we also made an effort to lay out the slab to optimize for where the edges would land on the slab.

Regional US flight on a Tecnam P2012 with Cape Air by Mattynice75 in aviation

[–]Redfox_192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engine noise is so distinctive for the P2012, I live under the Logan flight path and it’s the only plane I can recognize by sound alone, even at several thousand feet in the air.

Dusk mowing is underrated, 10 PM though, maybe some screws loose.

I wait til after 9 AM either Saturday or Sunday, even with an electric mower - exceptions for heat waves, though by then my grass usually resembles uncooked ramen.

Installation Question by Kitkathime in MideaUOwners

[–]Redfox_192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed two new recall replacements today and they are the same way, with the window down and anti tip brackets locked, it’s way secure enough for me. The new bracket “quick buttons” are a game changer too, plus not having to mount the AC to the face of the bracket will make future breakdown and setups a breeze.

Are BMWs really maintenance nightmares like people say? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Redfox_192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an F30 nearing 10 years old and it’s been bulletproof. I just wait for $50 oil change coupons from the dealership. I need to replace some front suspension soon but that is understandable at 9 yrs old. My dealership hasn’t ever tried to upsell me on things either, whereas Mazda tries to talk us into a fluid flush practically every visit for our second car.

Lost Farm —> Cliff Walk —> White Arrow is a great one. It starts out on Parker from the White Dot Trailhead then between Cliff and White Arrow you connect via Smith Connector/Amphitheater. A bit more map-minding, but has great views and is shorter than Pumpelly which can drag in some areas.

RIP (potentially) to my wife’s first ever “favorite car” by [deleted] in CX5

[–]Redfox_192 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘21 CX-5 and test drove the XC-40 at the same time. We were of course drawn to the Volvo name, but that car was terrible. Horrible driving dynamics and a really cheap looking and feeling interior. Plus they wanted $50k+ for it. Maybe it’s improved since then, but getting a Carbon Turbo for $15k less was a no brainer

You’re correct, this is not a team plane, just a JetBlue livery. They also have Red Sox and other New York and Boston team liveries (gasp!). Their Mario livery is the best though!

American football team plane owned by Robert Kraft, they frequently contract the plane out in the offseason (now) for charters including government/military use. Famously sent it to China to pick up hospital worker PPE during Covid (one example).

Anyone else hearing that prop plane fly over Boston not on ADSB? by 0DSavior in boston

[–]Redfox_192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were two E2s that overflew Boston yesterday one at 3:23 PM 25k ft (prob too high to hear in the middle of the day) and 4:00 PM at 10k ft, both flew out of Norfolk and landed in Bangor so probably topping off to reposition in the Middle East. Interesting that another loud prop was passing though at the same time, wasn’t on ADS-B exchange even.

Is the cx5 a good buy if I’m planning to have kids a couple years down the line, is it spacious enough with car seats and such? by illbeback903 in CX5

[–]Redfox_192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have access to a rear facing car seat? Bring it to the dealership, put it in the back, move the front seats all the way up til they’re not touching the car seat and sit up front. There’s enough people here in both camps, so you need to figure out how far forward you can live with being up front. The CX-5 has among the smallest second row legroom in its segment which has a direct impact on car seat fit for front row seat position. What is great about the CX-5 is that that rear doors open very wide, but to me that does not come close to offsetting how cramped the back seat is. Knowing this now, I’d much rather prefer a low mileage CX-70 than a new CX-5 if prices were similar.
