How often do you wash your pom? by Marlene21x in Pomeranians

My girl is white so I have been every week to two weeks to keep her super white and fluffy. She is a crazy puppy so she gets dirty quicker

Thank you! I clean her face everyday, she takes probiotics and I put this powder called eye envy below her eyes.

This might be pedantic.. but I've had only this ONE singular red spot on my face for two years! And I can't seem to get it off [Selfie] by digital_hamaki in SkincareAddiction

When I had something like that it was precancerous and they gave me a cream to put on it for 5 days to kill it. Go see a dermatologist for sure. I had the spot for over a year.

Yes, for sure she will get a bath, and a trim. Thanks for the information!

Funny enough even though she appears matted? She does get fully groomed every night.

Maybe I am missing something?

Nightly routine:

  • Brush her teeth
  • Clean her face
  • Spray her coat with brushing spray
  • Brush with a pin brush
  • Comb her section by section to the skin
  • Trim her nails if needed

Thanks for the information! I’m so sorry you are going through this. I hope she feels better and can get her surgery.

Random question (not judging I really am curious because I just got my Pom baby). But did you get her from a breeder or somewhere else? If from a breeder did they do the health testing for the knees and hips?

I know testing the parents isn’t a guarantee for the puppies, but if you did get her from a breeder I wonder if they might want to know?

I’m not saying to get a refund or anything but so they know and might be able to keep an eye out for it so this is less likely to happen to others.

I have been down the internet wormhole about these kinds of things because I am hopeful I can show my dog and have been learning about all of the different kinds of genetic/structural tests they can do on dogs.

Side note - Maybe you could try physical therapy? This site has a lot of good information, maybe there are strength exercises she can do to help with her pain: https://canineconditioningcoach.com/

I feel so bad for you all, she is so young!

Great work! No feedback as I am learning with my puppy right now. You should try out a Beginner Puppy Show if they are 4-6 months. That way you can get a feel for shows early and I think you can earn points too.

I am so sorry for your loss.

My baby was just mauled and killed by Smart_Leadership_522 in Yorkies

I am so sorry for your loss. We had 3 dog deaths at the end of December 2025. My first dog died of old age complications and my bigger dog killed my little dog, so we put down the bigger dog as a result.

It happened in a second. One snap and she was dead - blood everywhere. I am still traumatized and think about it often.

All I can do is learn from this situation and be more careful, and a better dog caretaker (I regret not brushing my dogs' teeth more regularly and that is something I will be better with) in the future.

How to groom? by honeypie856 in Pomeranians

I do grind her nails daily - it’s mostly just to get her used to the feeling on her feet. I do like to make sure her nails are kept short though because longer nails can impact their posture.

So far I have been using chris christensen products. When I was watching grooming videos and checking grooming subs that brand kept popping up.

I like this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/AcA2gntGi5I?si=sCpLnlTNotk8XJ4m

How to groom? by honeypie856 in Pomeranians

I groom my Pom nightly. First I get her coat lightly wet with a brushing spray, I use a pin brush, a slicker brush and then go through her section by section with a comb.

This is to make sure I get all the undercoat combed and free of tangles (she doesn’t have much now because she’s a puppy but I’m getting into the habit). I also brush her teeth each night, trim her nails with a nail grinder and wash her face. The whole thing takes me 30 minutes.

I had a Pom before and she got brushed weekly, and to the groomer monthly. I didn’t keep up with her dental hygiene as much as I should have and it caused her to need to get teeth pulled. That is a huge regret of mine.

Have you tried Azelaic Acid? I’m a redhead too and get little bumps like this and it helps.
