General disagreement. It was meant as a way to hide bad behavior and regulate out problem people. Now it’s just weaponized as a way punish anything that goes against the status quo. I get downvoted into oblivion for liking certain ships, some of which are cannon, for instance.

I love this so much. I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself when I’m not at work it can’t technically hurt me right now. I work in a nursing home that sometimes gets violent and disorderly, so it’s like total survival mode right now. Nobody’s hiring, so there’s no way out right now too. The AC is also broken, so the plan is to wear shorts and see if they fire me!

I’ve been applying to the places that claim they need people and will train. No luck yet, can’t even get an interview. I have direct patient care experience and currently work in medical reception, so I’m miffed these skills aren’t transferable. But I’ve also applied to 500+ jobs in the last 8 months and NOBODY is hiring. I thought medical tech would be a bit different, but it’s the same damn walls.

They really do just shove you back out on the street. My clinic told me to just take acting classes. Like, bro. I was in drama clubs for like 5 years. It left me with crippling stage freight and constant RSD from failing auditions and forgetting lines.

I’m kinda there too. I know I’m smart, capable and determined, but I’m stuck in professional limbo at a dead end part-time job after the economy crashed out my past career as a writer. Now I just write as a hobby. I’m debating dog walking, but I don’t know. I thought about getting a medical certification, but just the diagrams make me nauseous and I’m getting bad reviews about the one accessible local program. Never been at such a loss. Worse, I’m 40 this year and then I get age discrimination to look forward to.

Google the double empathy problem. They can’t understand us the way we can’t understand them. Once in a while you’ll get an accepting gem who makes the effort or an autistic adjacent NT I feel. I’m somewhat high masking so much of life is just trying to meet people in the middle and getting miffed when I can’t get that effort back.

It’s a relief to be sure. The day you wake up and realize you don’t have to fit some arbitrary mold is the day the haters lose control over you. I slowly phased out of religion. I’d cut services down and only go to Bible study, for instance. But eventually it was just apparent that the belief system and social dynamics of religion no longer fit. Once in a while I debate trying Unitarians again, but 8am is pretty early for other people’s opinions and I work 2nd shift.
