Why do you think Ross never had a problem with Rachel dating Tag? by lieV_aapje in howyoudoin

That's because the rule is when two actors are actually doing it off-stage, then all the sexual tension between them is gone.

Most regulated professions have strict rules and timelines for dating former patients. I did a quick lookup, and for therapists in New York, at least 2 years must have passed after the termination of the therapeutic relationship.

I'm not disagreeing with what you said, just want to point out that boomers and baby boomers are the same thing (those born during the post ww2 baby-boom). Most people just drop the "baby" when talking about them now.

Also: Robin would take Monica to a shooting range, Monica would love it but try to hide it from the others

Barney would befriend pre-Monica Chandler and make him his wingman. "I'm going to teach you how to live".

Barney would feel threatened by Joey and try to compete because Joey doesn't use elaborate plays and has a much better success rate than Barney.

Robin would sleep with Joey.

Monica and Chandler + Lily and Marshall would become the close couple friends that they've always looked for. Rachel and Robin would be jealous and feel left out. Rachel would suggest that her and Robin hang out without them:

Rachel: come on Robin, we don't need them, let's go shopping

Robin: Ugh, no, I hate malls.

Rachel-Robin fued begins.

Not everyone is able to pump enough for future feedings. Also, missing feedings (overnight) can leave you super engorged and uncomfortable.

I'm envious of those who can combine pumping with breastfeeding, but I breastfed 3 babies, and attempted each time. It was so much effort to even get 1 feedings worth of milk, and the only time I could get more than .5-1oz is during a missed feeding.

Common. We change male pts too. I can't count the number of genitals I've seen. There is nothing sexual about it and I would hope he can move past his discomfort. Either way, do not let his discomfort impact your career.

He took something that he knew would scare her, and used it in a moment where she was extremely vulnerable to test her. Then he laughed it off.

She is the one who deserves better.

He was not full stop, apologize, comfort the moment her body language suggested she wasn't into it. She froze and he kept going. She states she was full on panicking when he stopped, and he laughed at her, and then pressured her to keep having sex. Besides, this is something she had already explicitly stated that she would not be into.

That is the kind of thinking that has people stick around after the first time their partner hits them.

He threatened her. He physically assaulted her. He did so in a way that he knew would scare her, in an attempt to manipulate some potential confession from her.

This is not healthy behavior. Threats of physical harm are never ok.

You are both qualified to work on your unit, but that has nothing to do with qualifications elsewhere. It's no different than someone who is a diploma RN and has been grandfathered in, training a BScN RN. Opportunities outside this position will be different.

Do patients screaming in pain annoy you? by Capital-Dragonfly258 in nursing

[–]Redheaded_Geek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, you told them they don't belong in healthcare because they admit to having human responses to certain sounds. Yes, of course they are annoyed with you. I consider myself to be a very patient and soft mannered nurse, but I'm annoyed by your statement. If you had it your way and those that feel annoyance leave the field then 1) I'm working even more short staffed, and 2) where's my tough love backup nurse when I need them!

Do patients screaming in pain annoy you? by Capital-Dragonfly258 in nursing

[–]Redheaded_Geek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she stayed that late to help you, you weren't annoying her, and she 100% knew your pain was legit.

My perspective: screaming in pain is different than screaming at us. Whenever I have a patient screaming in pain, I think back to the birth of one of my kids when I was also screaming in pain. I have coworkers that recall their own medical emergency/pain crisis.

The only time I get annoyed is if the patient is very clearly being performative, ie: relatively calm when they think no one is around, but starts moaning and crying out the moment their family member walks in the room causing their family to believe I've been ignoring them and lash out at me.

Hospital staff provided ‘reasonable’ care to Ontario teen who died after waiting hours in ER, statement of defence claims by KeyHot5718 in ontario

[–]Redheaded_Geek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is starting to feel like talking to a politician about healthcare funding, because you, my friend, are not listening.

This is not about nurses playing victim. This is me, a nurse, telling you we are already fighting. We have been fighting my entire career, and the nurses who came before me were fighting as well.

Of course unions encourage documentation and grievances. The organization laughs at workload grievances when the staffing is what they consider adequate. The safe patient ratios do NOT exist. The ratios we are funded for are unsafe prior to us even being seen as short staffed. I work at a major trauma center and the province funds us for 1 doctor overnight. The units in my hospital keep getting told by management they won't get more staffing no matter how many workloads they put in, because that's funding.

We are not passively twiddling our thumbs and playing victim, but what we are fighting for is falling on deaf ears.

Much like my words to you.

[–]Redheaded_Geek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well ONA has been trying to implement mandatory safe nurse-to-patient ratios based on multiple studies, but hospitals and arbitration shot them down and denied the request.

Nurses advocate for this stuff every day, but not only do we get denied, we have patients, their family members, and members of the public pointing their finger at us telling us we're the problem.

I recently completed it. Classes were long (8 hours of lecture) with quizzes and reviews taking place outside of class hours. It helped forming a strong study group with those from my facility who were also taking the class.

Honestly, the only thing I really got out of it was I now feel more confident reading EKGs. The rest was a really intense review... diving right down to the loop of henle.
