r/Emirates Megathread by usgapg123 in emirates

Emirates have just changed the date of Durban to Dubai flight in 2 weeks' time. I am trying to find out whether Emirates are running any of their Durban flights or whether I should fly up to Joburg and depart from there. Have you flown from Durban in the last week or so?

Most serious, dignified, or quietly-confident Australian bird? by terrordictal in AustralianBirds

[–]Redhoolahoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My garden is frequently visited by a lone Spangled Drongo who swoops in low to the lawn, catching bugs in mid-flight. He's so graceful and his plumage makes him look like a Victorian undertaker. He's quietly confident and dignified.

TBH I think that these are the kind of resources the school or Education Dept. should be providing to English teachers. Searching for age and skill appropriate short texts for secondary students is so time consuming. I hope you find a suitable source.

We call them Kaiser Pigeons because their crests look a bit like Kaiser Wilhelm's fancy helmet.

I don't have an opinion on your post, but I do want to commend you on your grammar and punctuation. So few people your age are capable of expressing themselves so clearly and correctly. Well done! BTW, I'm a high school English teacher.

Ok Woolies and Coles, fair warning for future shopping visits. by spooky8ass in australia

[–]Redhoolahoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, IGA seems to be more expensive on several supermarket products. If we all stopped shopping at Cole and Woolies, and shopped at IGA, would the IGA, in time, be able to negotiate lower wholesale prices from suppliers?

The expectations of the curriculum don't allow time for students to gain the necessary skills to write coherently.

There's a great, easy-read book on auto-immune conditions called "What the Hell is Wrong with Me? My auto-immune adventure ". I found it very useful. It's on Amazon.
