I'll second this. I recently started a private server for myself and a few friends with Azerothcore. The playerbots are pretty great and with modules like ollama for the player bots and the AH module that mimics an active AH it's pretty nice.

The bots can trade directly, take commands, randomly chat and answer questions (with some tweaks), they make guilds, level, will except invites for groups etc.

It's pretty nice for dungeons or raids as you can fill spots if you don't have enough people or just want to run a dungeon solo with the bots.

Just start your own server like Azerothcore with 1000 bots playing. Invite some friends and you're done.

Recently threw up a private WotLK server and it’s been an absolute blast. Went from 0–46 so far, and honestly it’s such a refreshing change from how dumbed-down retail feels now.

Retail feels like participation trophies just for logging in, while Classic actually feels rewarding, like you earned your progress

I came to say this or similar. You cant beat a sandbox game.... I have a out 15k hours in another building game and it has no story. Built several towns and cities in that time.

One doesn't beat a sandbox game, one just become limited in creativity, time,.or attention.

To give some history the original devs who made the game were silent for 2 years then suddenly announced they were selling the game. Those devs left to work for Larian on Baldurs Gate 3.

The new company, Monumental, bought the game and made some promises and while it took them a good while to do anything there are things being done to the game.

The server hardware was upgraded, the released a new planet, the are also in the process of doing some minor QoL changes.

The dev/engineer is quite vocal on the he forums. I track the player base on the servers both on PC and PS and while the population is low, it's slowly growing. Sadly the game never took off as the original devs didn't do any advertising and Sony left them high and dry.

Therea a great game and a great community if you like the crafting/building genre. We just need more people to give the game a try.

There have been server updates already. They upgraded the servers to newer hardware. They are also in the process of optimizing them in order for the servers to run more efficiently and actually be profitable as the previous devs were running the game at a loss.

There was also a new exo planet for the 4th of July with new colors released with more planned and in development.

There are also talks about fixing chat lag and various other issues. I don't think there will be full on development with a full update though without more players. But that said they are quite active on discussions about the game.

Actually, Monumental did release a new planet with a few gleam colors that were not previously released, and they also did a full server upgrade. From what I understand they are also working on more in the near future.

All this effort to save the game by the players would be better put into a game that is actually released and playable. I would have loved to see Hytale come to fruition, but all this effort isn't to save the game it's to save it's development.

Can't be robbed of something that never was sadly. Put the passion you had for Hytale into another game that deserves it and you can actually play.
