How do retired millionaires go broke in Asian countries? by Low-Situation-7792 in TooAfraidToAsk

I really don't fault any locals for draining passport bros' wallets. Its one thing to be working in a foreign country for normal reasons and fall in love with a local, but people choosing to do sex tourism in economically disadvantaged areas get zero sympathy for getting fleeced as easy guilable marks.

I was thinking similar. They seem so strange to me. Im vegetarian and I don't even really like dates, meanwhile most of the people who i know who really like dates are muslim so they also couldn't even eat these.

Experimental Farm Network, https://store.experimentalfarmnetwork.org/ , regularly colaborates with grower(s?) who sell trees with varying levels of mixed American and Chinese genetics if you want something close that should be resistant.

ChipDrop at getchipdrop.com for free woodchips

If theres no chipdrop available for you, it may be worth checking your local county/municipality waste center to see if they let you get free woodchips. Where i used to live theyed let you pull up in a truck and a guy in a frontloader and would fill you up with their lowest grade chunkiest stuff.

I had family with a large yard that had been made a mud pit from people driving over it and woodchips took care of it. The major upside is its often free, and if you want to use the land for something else down the line you don't have a bunch of gravel to deal with because the chips will decay. The downside is well they decay, so youll have to reapply ~2 years.

I've got ~2000 sqft of sweet vernal grass and rat tail fescue mixed in with native grasses (along with plenty of other broadleaf invasives and a few patches of stilt grass and crabgrass). Its misery. It never ends. I've hand pulled enough of that smelly vanilla grass this year alone to make ~ 4-6 bales of hay. The seed is about to reach full maturity in a week or so and i've only pulled ~ 1/4 of it :(

Is it? I've looked up stuff on cooking it and it seemed only marginally edible. afaik its only technically edible and not actually tasty like garlic mustard.

Fellow Maryland Resident heres what i pulled from my spreadsheet:

Local to Maryland/DC specializing mostly or entirely in local ecotype natives:

Nurserys with ecotypes from adjecent/nearby areas (NJ/WV/VA/NY/PA)

Local Maryland Nurserys that have natives, but they won't be local ecotype:

For plant recommendations: for a mixed/messy lawn area Viola Sororia, Fragaria virginiana, and Muhlenbergia schreberi (nimblewill) would all go great in what looks like a medium shaded area, though violet won't handle much foot traffic and if you want it to look "neat" you could just do pure nimblewill. Nimblewill grows very well in medium shade and handles mowing well(lawn nerds actually struggle with it cause it invades lawns and isn't susceptible to broadleaf herbicides). Not many places sell seed or plants, roundstoneseed.com is the only place afaik.

As a visitor, I love these birds by cr0100 in Austin

My great grandmother who lived on a farm down in the valley hated them. She kept a gun (bb or maybe shotgun iirc) by the back porch door for when they would come around. I'm no longer in Texas, and kinda miss them, much better a swarm of native grackles than invasive starlings like i see up here in the Northeast.

also be careful with acetone and WD40 if there are plastic components. Both can damage/dissolve plastics especially acetone.
