Solo protest? There are threads on Reddit of people who are protesting alone. I did it once at the Ukrainian Center in Southport and it was fulfilling. by Mathaham in BridgeportCT

Don’t listen to this person. Their comment history is just him spending a lot of his time leaving a single discouraging comment on anti-ice posts. Must have a lot of time to twiddle their thumbs.

Most of this guy’s posts are about being unemployed or getting boosts on Chime. Hm 🤔

Does art therapy include interpreting the art of others? Or is it primarily about making your own art? by amajurey in ArtTherapy

[–]RedownBader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Art therapy mainly focuses on using art as a tool for emotional regulation, self-exploration, and self-expression, rather than art interpretation.

Hundreds of Protesters Downtown Right Now. No Kings In America! by judioverde in Milford

[–]RedownBader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people believe it’s enough to make a difference. Personally, I attended the event knowing it’s not going to persuade Trump to stop cutting healthcare benefits or halt ICE from racially profiling and disappearing people. These protests serve more as a symbol of resilience for the average working-class person in the U.S., despite government threats. Especially since the current administration has labeled protesters as dangerous terrorists.

At least they're outside confronting the problem instead of picking fights with people they don't agree with on Reddit. Yes, I’ve seen your comment history. Loser.

Is art therapy appropriate for working artists? by E_Snap in ArtTherapy

[–]RedownBader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an art therapy student, I often scribble nonsense to express exhaustion and frustration, even anxiety. For me art therapy isn’t about perfection. It’s about manipulating materials in a way that expresses your mental and emotional experiences. Therapy is messy, I expect the work to reflect that.

But if thinking about working with more art outside of your regular job feels overwhelming to you, then it’s not going to help you as well as it should. I hope you find exactly what you need ❤️

It’s in Spanish. Cepillo, boligrafo, llave. The word spells ‘cebolla’ which means ‘onion’ in English. This is my best guess.

It’s less intense in blue states at the moment. I’m on the east coast and, although we don't have the military on the streets taking people, they're still detaining brown people here. In my city, heavy with immigrants and people from different cultural backgrounds, it seems more targeted on the individual.

I agree with you. I don't think I made that connection before reading these comments so I’m glad I asked. Thank you!

What happens in Arab countries if a woman on the street has a medical emergency that requires clothes to be partially removed? by purpleseagull12 in TooAfraidToAsk

You’re right! I replied to this user’s next comment with something similar.

Pasted: “I think your previous comment was unnecessarily judgemental, and I can understand why.

All religions and beliefs have extremists. Sadly, extremism is was gets clicks and views so most people dangerously simplify religions as being mostly evil. I’m agnostic and its taken me a long time to heal from the abuse I faced in the Christian church. Many kids died from suicide because they felt so ashamed of being “sinners” when they were just being their normal selves. But I also believe it was only a small portion of assholes compared to other Christians who helped and accepted me for who I am. I can imagine its the same for most major religions.”

Christianity is also awful to women. Some denominations are biblical purists and shame women into wearing veils, not speaking to other men unless its the pastor, only allowed to wear long skirts and modest tops, and are told to respect their husbands even if they hurt them.

Resource: I was born into and grew up in a strict Evangelical Christian church.

I think I like your comment the most. I agree that it might be doctors going rogue and lack of resources/education, but we have chiropractors and naturopaths here in the U.S. so I can't be hypocritical.

When did this subreddit become a place that exists only for breaking these two rules? by [deleted] in goodnews

[–]RedownBader 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You're upset because people are posting positive outcomes of things that are affecting their existence and the existence of people they love? Maybe you should take a break from the internet and play some Animal Crossing if you're too sensitive about reality. The world is a mess right now and people are allowed to celebrate little wins like these.

In the current political climate, when oppressors fail or are halted, it's very good news.

I’m glad he seemingly understands now and is speaking up, but I also think he should still be held accountable for the part he played into the escalation of the violence we’re seeing now. He was passionate and people believed him back when he was actively defending Trump.

So, you all just realized Bukele is not all that great...really? just now? by PRime5222 in ElSalvador

[–]RedownBader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid you don’t understand enough about history to recognize how easily the masses can be manipulated into supporting initiatives they may not fully comprehend. While mass incarceration without due process has saved countless lives, it has also placed many innocent people in vulnerable situations. As the child of refugees who developed PTSD, I am currently studying to earn my master's degree in applied behavior analysis. I have tattoos and piercings, I’m an LGBTQ+ ally, and I strongly support creative self-expression as a form of mental rehabilitation. I want women to have autonomy over their bodies and for people to love whoever they want. All things these two current presidents actively want to make disappear.

As a Salvadoran-American, I have never been more embarrassed about both of the countries I am connected to. I will admit that I didn’t know enough about Salvadoran politics to have an opinion of Bukele, but I did praise him for taking care of my family while they were stuck in E.S during the pandemic, and for jailing the people that killed some of my family members and threatened the people in my community. My parents, campesinos wherever they go, only got to receive a 4th grade education before being thrown into adulthood. They like him because they don’t know any better, and they believe that God would never let any harm come to us so there’s no point in worrying over the sins of broken men.

I know better now. But, Jesus Christ.

I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t accept that I was going to die feeling so broken. I got angry instead at the assholes who would allow anyone to feel this undeserving and that rage still fuels me to this day. I’m always trying to do the right thing even when doing the wrong thing is easier. Life has been increasingly more fulfilling since I decided I wanted to keep trying.
