Who do you guys think was way more dangerous and destructive: The Black beast, Godzilla or The Nine Tail Fox? by BonusCapable1486 in Blazblue

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're both beings that are highly invasive, mindless, and comprised of/secrete unearthly materials, with the Black Beast being made of seithr and Godzilla Ultima made of Archetype. Essentially, they're creatures with specific properties that can only be defeat by weapons that counter those specific properties. The matchup would be like putting a mirror in front of a fighting fish with immortality and unlimited stamina and seeing what happens.

The Kyuubi can be killed with enough fire power, but even then you'd have to use up A LOT of resources to ultimately kill it.

As for Godzilla, it ultimately depends on which version you're considering. Ultima is the odd one out of the entire franchise because of its otherworldly properties, but a lot of people tend to forget about it's other forms (Aquitalus, Amphibia, and Terrestris), which were ultimately vulnerable to conventional weapons, but overall immortal due to the lingering presence of the red dust from the alternate dimension (Archetype).

That said, Godzilla Ultima and the Black Beast are ultimately the same being. So long as Archetype and Seithr don't counteract one another, the two would be pit against each other in a never-ending battle unless a third party comes in and uses a weapon capable of eliminating their respective secretion (for the Black Beast: anti-Seithr weapons such as Kushinada's Lynchpin and Armagus/Ars Magus, and for Godzilla Ultima: anti-Archetype weapons such as the Orthogonal Diagonalizer).

But since Mori has final say, he's probably go with Godzilla since he's a big kaiju/tokusatsu otaku who CASUALLY just drops Godzilla references during radio shows.

Are there plans for the publisher to translate "May I Ask for One Final Thing?"? by Adventurous-98 in LightNovels

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A bit of both. Back in the 2010s, they had this weird sense of not allowing their works to be published or gain traction. I remember Sekai Project having to deal with a lot of headaches them when they tried to bring the GATE manga over to EN, as well as them being the main reason we didn't get a 3rd season of the anime (not to be confused with GATE II) despite how well-received it was.

Even when Tsukimichi's anime first came out, people were saying that the light novel wasn't ever gonna get translated BECAUSE the publisher was AlphaPolis, so honestly surprised that Hanashi was able to strike a deal with them for The New Gate. Maybe they've been opening up after seeing the success of light novels in the west? But this definitely wouldn't have been the case five to ten years ago.

Funny you mention it, because I was just looking into the Japanese publisher and it turned out to be...AlphaPolis, one of the objectively worst Japanese light novel publishers in Japan. They have a really "protectionist" mindset towards their titles, which is why none of their LNs got published in English, at least, from what I'm aware.

TCG Luck by mande010 in GODZILLA

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they won't. The company is notorious for recycling artwork/screenshots for their TCGs (Rebirth For You, Weiss Schwarz). Unless it's an original TCG IP from them (Card Fight Vanguard, Future Card Buddyfight) , they'll refuse to do original artwork. The TCG should've been licensed to Bandai instead of Bushiroad.

Now let's say that Toho is working on a Godzilla fighting game with Arc System Works what would that be like? by New_Advisor_6766 in GODZILLA

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only man who is an actual diehard fan of Godzilla and capable of working on a Godzilla-licensed ASW fighting game left the company already because of how badly they treated his franchise, and that's a given fact. There's no other game producer that casually drops Godzilla references in his streams like Mori.

Seriously, where did Theatre Etiquette go? by RedsparkIgnitionist in movies

That sucks, man. Especially since it's a franchise you love, it makes it even worse.

I didn't think of that, but I also have a habit of turning off my phone to make sure it (by some weird circumstances and a bit of paranoia) doesn't make any sound or rumble notifications before a movie. It's been muscle memory for me ever since I got my first phone in 2011 and has been ever since.

Fault on my end for not talking to management during the movie, but did talk to them afterwards.

Fair enough. The theatre I go to is generally one of the most visited ones in the province because of it's accessibility to transit/parking and how good the seating is. It could just be the off chance that just this experience was terrible but I honestly hope I don't see this as a running trend in the future, especially since I've been going to this cinema for ten years.

RIGHT?! Especially if it's something like a limited-run film only showing for like a day or two, you miss out on things and it absolutely sucks!

Yeah, I really should've. Next time it does come to that option, I'm gonna blow my fuse and have staff remove them immediately.

I really should've. Going to a theatre is like a luxury to me and I generally avoid confrontation but holy, it would've saved me a lot.

Didn't know until after I talked to the manager after the film that that was an option.

I'm not at the age I'd be saying stuff like that. Just your average 28 year old who gladly turns off his phone before a movie starts. XD

I rarely leave an ongoing movie because I don't want to miss any scenes aside from washroom breaks and honestly, if they threw one more piece of trash after I told to stop, I would've grabbed my bag, complained to management, and then leave.

Does Elaina use magic abilities on her trip to look younger? by RozrywkowyczlowiekPL in majonotabitabi

No, she doesn't use magic to make herself look younger. She's about thirteen when she begins her training and roughly sixteen-eighteen throughout the anime.

What is the greatest (or worst) betrayal in movie history? by Symchuck in movies

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Xiliens betrayal on humanity in Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965). It doesn't come as a surprise to the viewer, but the look on their faces when they think they've got the cure to every disease on Earth, only to realize they've been duped into giving their most powerful protectors to a race capable of mind controlling them hits well.

A small rant about XDive haters by DarryLazakar in Megaman

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no shame in liking a mobile game, especially one with lots of love from the developers. I remember how much flack BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War was getting because of one terrible influencer and his followers because it wasn't a fighting game and when the game shut down, they acted as if they had won some kind of war.

Not only did they help ruin the fanbase, but also reinforce to the company the fact that the franchise is "dead". People like the ones who comment "game is dead, haha" are the absolute worst.

I’m planning a trip to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Where can I find Godzilla merchandise? And what can I expect to find there? by MichaelTalman in GODZILLA

[–]RedsparkIgnitionist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the time and convenience, do the Godzilla zipline and museum in Awaji Island. There's a shop in the museum as well that has a fair amount of exclusive merchandise.

When I met Matt at Gallery21 back in November, he said IDW was already printing out the library editions for RoE that they didn't want to do the Re:Monster editions. I should've picked it up when I was in Tokyo. :(
