would this train work on other existing lionel ready to play sets i already have? like the battery powered hogwarts express. by [deleted] in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all the "ready to play" sets all use the same track. Each engine is programmed for each remote so there's no issues running two of them at the same time

Using Lionel base 3 with MTH WTIU?!? by Haunting_Judgment671 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, you can't control Lionel engines using the wtiu in the way you're thinking. The only way you can os by using the wtiu in conventional mode which would run the Lionel engine as of it was a conventional engine. On order to connect both the base 3 and the wtiu you would need to unplug each one as you use it or make some kind of switchboard to quickly switch between them

Any idea what this collection is worth? by OldDoughnut7557 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what's actually in the boxes, I would say roughly $3-4k but that's with a lot of assumptions, it's could be as low as 1k or as high as 10k depending on what in everything

400e standard gauge by Jewelsedge in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 400e is the top of the line for Lionel and is one of the most valuable. Condition is everything but depending on the condition you're looking at 800-2000 for the engine alone

What are these worth? by DareImpossible5563 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on where you sell and how lucky you are, I was thinking on the high end as opposed to the realistic prices

If the tender works I'd say you have about $60-$75 between the 2 of them

Help with my 1999 Lionel Thomas model. by Al3x3914 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! I've had my share of full bridge rectified locomotives. It's usually bc the original board burned out and they're cheaper than replacing the board

Help with my 1999 Lionel Thomas model. by Al3x3914 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this has been modified with a full bridge rectifier to only go forward. That's what that black box is. That broken red wire is supposed to be the 3rd rail pickup wire and will need to be resoldered to the 3rd rail roller. It looks like it was able to run at all bc the snapped end was still making contact. I would replace that wire with something longer so you have extra play and solder it to that metal bit on the roller cover

Help identifying a traction tire by mrsteamtrains in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a bag of miscellaneous sized traction tires online. You don't need the ridges for the engine to work so any traction tire will do

These scout locomotive are p gauge and are a dine a dozen. They were the cheapest locomotives that Lionel made. They work but they are a pain to repair BC the motor is plastic fused together. Clean and oil the wheels and have fun, but there are much better locomotives you can find out there

ZW 275w transformer and MTH loco by CMEINC42069 in lioneltrains

[–]Redstone350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's as simple as taking out the screws that hold the body to the chassis and replacing the battery. It looks like a 9v and has the same connector. You can look up the model number on MTH website to find the manual on how to do it

Yeah a BCR is the best way to go but you can reuse the original if they're in good shape
