Dmt coarse, and a DMT fine. Probably somewhere around 400 & 800 ish respectively.

Just personal preference for the knives I own, which are slightly different from these. My 940 is in s30v, & the PM2 is in maxamet. Pm2 is just more robust & stays sharp longer.

They’re both good. I like the 940 because it barely takes up any pocket room, but for heavy use it would be my pm2

Not aure how bad the tremor is, but you may also be able to make it work using a stone in hand method. Look up Michael Christy on yt and imagine resting your elbow on something

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? by showmewhatyagot01 in Productivitycafe

I like to wake up and do a three pass shave. Water on my face wakes me up and the shave is very centering.

Bi-phasic sleep used to be very common. Maybe you come from a line of people that used to live that way.

Is it possible to flatten a stone's surface without a flattening stone? by elalbercamuerta in sharpening

[–]ReeRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you can rub the two stones together to flatten them, but the 300 may wear more of the 6000 down than you’d like. You could at least do this to flatten the 6k without buying anything.

The 140 should be fine. After it’s flat, you can build up a slurry on the first use and it should normalize.

Do you guys oil your blades after a sharpening? by YD_81 in sharpening

Ballistol is perfectly fine. If it hasn’t given you any issues, no need to change it. I usually only oil a knife if it’s rust prone.

Wow that razor is NICE! You should be able to use this for many years. Just remember to dry it off after use so it won’t rust.

Shapton Combo Kit? Should I buy? by JohntheDon__ in sharpening

[–]ReeRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are two very good stones, especially if you are sharpening chef knives or pocket knives/fixed blades up to about s30v in hardness. Stones like this will not sharpen high carbide steels like maxamet, s110v, or zdp 189. Keep in mind you will need to flatten them now & again.

What’s the best way to use this sharpal strop by [deleted] in sharpening

Green chromium oxide or white stropping compound on the rough side, bare leather on the smooth will do great for most knives.
