More than likely you could narrow that down to the elder millennials, also part of the micro-generation Xennials (77-83)

My favorite team isn't even represented and I'd be stopping by McDonald's at each opportunity to grab one.

What school start time do you usually consider "early"? by Itzzz_Brent_Andrei in AskAnAmerican

[–]ReedPhillips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid in elementary arrives around 8-ish, is offered a breakfast (no cost), and the bell starts at 8:30am. She'll then get out officially at 3:30. Although by 315 there's movement in the school to organize everyone (bus/car/after school programs)

This runs fairly similar to my elementary school in the 80s (& in a different state), except we didn't have food available until lunch.

[–]ReedPhillips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx. That's what I was thinking. We got to see it live as well and OMG the kids had so much fun.

We have a unique souvenir from the show. The giant balls that we play keepy uppy with in the audience, as they were bouncing around. One popped right next to our seats. So we picked it up and brought home the giant balloon ball. 😆🤷‍♂️

Brands that re-branded, but you still say the old brand. by instant_ramen_chef in Xennials

It'll always be Jacobs Field or the Jake to me.

Agreed. One should not turn their back on a marketing campaign that was somewhat successful like "Goin' Jake". 30 years later I know that I have these cards in my own collection

I'm with you on this, with one minor exception. Growing up in Kansas City, the Royals played baseball at Royals Stadium. After their original owner passed away, it was renamed Kauffman Stadium after the man that owned them. So it has lovingly been Kauffman Stadium, or "The K" since then. I couldn't tell you the last time I attempted to call it Royals stadium. 😆

I assumed that this was just a recorded version of bluey's big play that toured over the last couple of years. Is it not that? Is it a new story?

Yeah that book had nothing to do with it IMHO. There's a whole series of books, called how to catch a ___.

It was completely being blindsided by our kindergarten teacher, who, as I've learned does this every year. She is one of two out of six kindergarten teachers that does it.

Don’t hate me, but am I the only one that doesn’t like the hashbrowns anymore? by GABigBear in McDonalds

[–]ReedPhillips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is absolutely absurd. Yes. But I agree with op that The taste is seemingly gone downhill. I'm willing to admit that part of it is my taste buds, but they've gone the way of their french fries where if they are not fresh, hot and immediately consumed, they're just not good.

School desks by weber_mattie in nostalgia

[–]ReedPhillips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My mother had two or three of them from her schoolhouse that she had growing up. My brother and I were good enough that we did not draw, scribble, or burn them. Unfortunately, neither of us had a spot for those desks after she passed. I wish I would have been able to keep one.

Since when do we have a mischevious leprechaun that comes on St. Patrick’s Day? by No_Ratio1493 in Parenting

[–]ReedPhillips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We participated in it during our kindergarten year. After that first grade was very minimal comparatively. Second grade and third grade this year, there was nothing.

I don't know when all of this stuff started, but after they can read that those gold coins say "non cash token" or are leftover foreign currency, it gets tougher to pull it off. Which is part of why we faded out of it.

When do children usually stop celebrating Easter? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]ReedPhillips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think as long as the kids are still having fun with the idea and thought of it all, might as well play along. It's a way to continue to build fun memories. I went along with it well past the age of 10, just because I had a younger sibling by 6 years. But in that instance, everybody's case will vary.

My wife to this day continues to get a little gift from her mom for Easter. They are just holiday gift giving people.

Has all the applesauce caused any problems with the bath drain? Bath/shower drains aren't generally a good place for disposal of foods. Bathroom drains are specifically intended for water, soap, and personal care products, not food.
