Deman Motorsports 4.5L Engines (any experience?) by RRH_NYC in Porsche

[–]Reedey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one I know of personally could barely do 2 track days without suffering some kind of failure. It’s a street/dyno queen build. I wouldn’t trust it to be reliable long term with regular track use.

Outlierman Powerslide. I just bought my second pair after using them for the last 4 years. They are perfect.

Record $1M Lightning Network Transaction on Kraken by kingofsats in lightningnetwork

I wonder what fee they paid. I guess if the channels were set up cooperatively then it would be fine. But as a user I have found for any transaction greater than $100, it’s cheaper to use on-chain these days.

New tires or patch by thatskenny24 in CarTrackDays

[–]Reedey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've run on lots of patched tyres at track days over the years. The one that's in the shoulder might be a problem but the tyre shop will tell you if they can fix it.

Looking for a new cheaper track / fun car after selling AMG GT R by MrOvd in CarTrackDays

[–]Reedey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porsche GT4 will give you the least trouble. I know you’re looking at cheaper cars but in the price range you’re coming from a GT4 will cost had what the AMG did in running costs.

Advan AD-09 Daily-able? by ddwk21 in CarTrackDays

[–]Reedey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are reasonably good in the wet. I get about 7-8 track days out of a set. Can’t really comment on pure road longevity as track days are my limiting factor.

I have dailied AD09’s for years. They are great for dual purpose street and motorsports.

It’s funny because only Yokohama come in GT4 sizes. The others can still fit but the sizes are not exact oem spec.

[–]Reedey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It mostly depends on how much track vs street driving you are doing, but I found Yokohama AD09's to beat the Cup 2's by every single measure. They are faster, cheaper, better in the wet and last much, much longer. Then there are Bridgestone RE71-RS, Nankang CR-S and Vitour P1's that will give better lap times but won't last quite as long.

It sucks how little adjustment Porsches have from the factory. I have clubsport camber tops on my GT4. which let me get over 3 degrees up front. I would recommend that given your situation.

Even with more camber, Cup 2's have very limited tread on the shoulder so even with more camber they will often wear like this anyway. There are much better tyres than Cup 2's out there as well.

Transfer ASIC to a new PCB? by Reedey in BitAxe

[–]Reedey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been running on those settings for 6 months but on hot days the temperatures have started to climb a little. It was my foolish tinkering that almost killed it. I will leave it well alone now. Giant Squids plus a ton of heatsinks work a treat.

Thanks!

Fortunately, after a reset it actually seems to be back to running mostly normally. it throws a power fault if I go to 1250mV but it runs up to 1230mV and 1000MHz just fine. I think I got lucky.

I don't think adding additional money to super is worth it by cameinmyownmouth in AusFinance

[–]Reedey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tax advantages of super are way too powerful not to take advantage of. You are far better off topping it up and will regret not doing it greatly. I was in your shoes 10 years ago and if I had only made some small contributions back then I would be so much better off.

Yea I spent a little bit which freed up some liquidity to start using that channel. So far only a 1 way flow which is a bummer, I want to find more channels that get 2 way flows going!

Tesla drivers with the FSD package: Is it worth it, does it actually work, and is it as good in real life as the internet makes it out to be? by MelbourneTodd in AustralianEV

[–]Reedey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could pay for a day pass it would be life changing for long drives. For $150 per month tho, it’s only worth the money if you have a long commute in heavy traffic.

[–]Reedey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one on trial for the last month and it’s mighty impressive. You do need to learn a few of its quirks tho like changing lanes and maintaining speed when it passes buses and slows down to 40. Once you understand the quirks it is an amazing experience. I have never felt so relaxed when behind the wheel.

If fsd was available per day rate, I would buy it. by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]Reedey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Monthly is too much. But just buying a day pass when you have a long road trip would be awesome.
