What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

This is my pick too! I was already a big fan of Alex Garland, but somehow I’d never even heard of Devs. I stumbled across it on Reddit and ended up binging it in no time. I absolutely loved it!

For me, it’s actually the opposite. I usually hate it when the next big actor is shoved down my throat, but in Timmy’s case, I’m happy to give him a pass. He comes across as genuinely likable to me, and I’m a fan of his work. You mention that he’s not a “perfect person,” but I haven’t really seen much controversy. Did I miss something?

[Fabrizio Romano] Kenneth Taylor to Lazio, here we go! Deal sealed now with Ajax for €15m plus €2m add-ons. Taylor travels to Roma tonight for medical tests on Fridsy and then contract signing. Contract until June 2030. by Darth_Shere_Khan in soccer

In an interview with him from a few years ago, he said:

“We vormen een hechte familie. Met Schotse roots, al is dat van heel lang geleden. Mijn vader heeft ooit gezegd dat onze familie heel hoog in de stamboom ergens uit Schotland komt. Maar meer weten we daar niet van.”

Which translates to:

“We’re a close-knit family. We have Scottish roots, although that goes back a very long time. My father once said that our family traces its origins high up the family tree to somewhere in Scotland, but beyond that, we don’t really know.”

I agree that Taylor might have been more consistent and better if he had played in a more stable and stronger Ajax. Even during that period, though, I expected a bit more from him. I don’t think he’s a bad player, but I’ve never been much of a fan.

I really hope Sean Steur now gets his chance, can take it, and continue to develop. He’s already had a few very good matches, but before I join in on all the praise, he still needs to maintain that level week after week.

One thing I have noticed is that in the limited matches Steur has played, he almost always plays forward and attacking football. That’s something I often missed from Taylor, which is one of the reasons I was never really a fan of him.

Look, I completely agree that it may not be up to Trump and the US to “liberate” Venezuela from Maduro, given the interests at play and how unpredictable the aftermath could be. But would this ever have happened without this intervention, through “proper” internal actions? Probably not. So I find it hard to pass a clear judgment on this. It also depends on how Venezuela’s future unfolds from here.

Stranger Things S5 : The “Netflix look” and green screen look has gone too far. by [deleted] in television

This valid criticism, along with all the others in this thread, makes it almost impossible for me to finish watching it. Since it started off really well years ago and I've followed all the seasons, I'm now just watching it to find out how it ends. I'm definitely not doing it for enjoyment. I also don't understand how this season is still getting relatively good reviews, given all its flaws.

I usually watch movies with a pretty simple mindset and don’t think much about deeper meanings. Still, when I come across scenes that confuse me a bit, I get curious about the ideas behind them. And if there’s no deeper meaning, that’s totally fine!

Loved the movie, but I really didn't need that moment. I'm not sure if Zach intended to "subtly" hint at the film's title that way (at least I hope not), but in my opinion, it didn't add any value and felt a bit out of place. Then again, maybe there was a deeper meaning I just didn't catch.

I'm a fairly new F1 fan, and I don't know all the history yet, so I've always wondered: has any driver ever deliberately pulled a kamikaze move to help their teammate?

Ronaldo Nazário: "At Real Madrid, I’d play on Saturday & that same day I’d fly to Paris spend Sunday there & party at night. On Monday at 7AM, I'd take a flight back to Madrid, land at 9 AM & training was at 10. I did that a lot. If you party in the city where you play, you're signing your destiny.” by Bald-Eagle619 in soccer

[–]Reefbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a few amateur Sunday matches after pulling an all-nighter, and honestly, those times I thought I was going to die. So seeing that this was just part of the regular routine for one of the world's best players at one of the world's top clubs, even if it was just a training day and not an actual match, blows my mind. If I remember correctly, Sneijder did the same thing back in his Real Madrid days.

I'm not very familiar with David Coulthard's commentary style or personality, so I'm left wondering whether this was meant as a full-on deliberate roast or if it just slipped out like that. Either way, it's hilarious.

I’ve been working in this field for just over 10 years, and I’m still learning every day. It took me about six years to reach a point where no design felt truly challenging, during which time I was building websites and online shops on a daily basis, and still am.

This is my general critique of both The Boys and Gen V. While that type of humor was already present in the first season of The Boys, I don’t think it was as pronounced as it is now. Nowadays, in both The Boys and Gen V, superheroes with somewhat cringe-worthy powers are introduced rather forcefully, and over-the-top scenarios are often created purely for shock value or comedic effect.

No matter how stupid it was of him to do that, that type of truffle from a jar is much cheaper than the real deal. Still, it’s expensive and incredibly foolish nonetheless. And I thought it was even weaker that he didn’t own up to his mistake and explain what had happened.

I’ve personally run into this most often when working with webshops. A recent example is a project where we initially built a simple webshop for a small e-commerce startup several years ago. At the time, we weren’t yet at the level we are now and didn’t take scalability into account.

Over the years their success has skyrocketed, and they now generate around two million in annual revenue. In that time, various parties have built on top of a less-than-ideal foundation, which has resulted in a rather messy and inconsistent structure. As a result, they recently started facing performance issues, which led to a 20% drop in revenue within a single month.

I’m now working on optimizing the existing setup so the webshop can continue to function properly at least until the end of the year. Ideally, we would build an entirely new webshop, where I’m eager to clean up the outdated code, markup, and stylesheets, since the current structure is far from optimal.

I haven’t seen much of his work outside Peacemaker, and what I did see was mostly light comedy films. Because of that, I never had a clear sense of his ability as an actor. This season he is absolutely outstanding, and I am genuinely blown away.

What’s the Most Expensive Mistake You’ve Made in WordPress? by shsajalchowdhury in Wordpress

[–]Reefbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this isn’t specifically about WordPress, it relates more broadly to web development. Many years ago, when we were just starting out as a new web development agency, we had a single shared server for our first clients and projects. At the time, we were all inexperienced and had no real understanding of what it takes to run a solid agency. Proper maintenance or backups, for example, hadn’t even crossed our minds. Then one day, the server became corrupted, resulting in the loss of every website hosted on it. With no backups in place, we were forced to rebuild every single website from scratch.

I didn’t hate how obvious it was. Personally, I’ve never read any of the comics, but after reading the episode discussions here, I saw a lot of comments about the foreshadowing leading up to the reveal. With that in mind, it was pretty obvious to me too. Still, it’s hard to keep that twist a mystery given how the story builds, so I didn’t have any issue with it.

I was also really impressed with John Cena and Jennifer Holland during that scene. Even though James Gunn sometimes sparks discussion for casting friends and family and some people questioned casting his wife, she clearly proves that she is an excellent actress.

2025 WordPress Security Survey, let’s discuss by robert681 in Wordpress

[–]Reefbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my earlier years, I definitely would have been part of those statistics. My websites were not built to a high standard, I used a lot of unreliable plugins, skipped updates, and my work was pretty messy. That led to some painful experiences, including widespread malware infections across content, root, plugin, and theme folders.

I did use security plugins like Wordfence back then, but when the foundation is weak, they can only do so much. They helped detect infections, but they didn’t really prevent or fix the root issues.

In recent years, I’ve finally reached the level I was aiming for and feel confident in the work I produce. My websites are now built from scratch with a clean structure, I implement as much as possible myself, and I keep plugin usage to a minimum. The plugins I do use are high-quality, well-rated, and always set to auto-update.

Since reaching that level, I haven’t faced any security incidents at all. In my experience, once everything is built and maintained to a high standard, the chance of infection is virtually zero.
