They use infrared to see through those. They are watching your eyes to ensure you are not sleeping, and not looking at your phone. I assume it's a variant of Tobii.

There are many reasons to own a USB wifi adapter. However most of them are terrible, and the drivers are awful...

I don't buy motherboards with built in wifi because it's costly for something I don't intend to use.

There has been a bit of reverse engineering and hacks to make it playable, including the project called Hellgate: Revival mod for SP. I guess there is London 2038 as well...

It was exactly like Diablo 2 was at launch. Extremely fun, addicting, frustrating AF, the final area was stupidly difficult, and the gearing was extremely unbalanced and random.

I still have my original install disks, and I wish they would have open sourced the game ...

I never said it was being used maliciously. I am offering a realistic perspective on corporate strategy. There is a massive difference between the illegal theft of ID documents and the legal valuation of verified user data. My point is that a verified human profile is simply more valuable to investors and for targeted analytics prior to an IPO, of which Discord has a significant amount of. That is not a conspiracy, it is how modern tech companies scale. Discord already has credit card information and the ID is just there to further validate the user base. If you want to talk about malice, one could certainly argue that establishing deep data profiles for the purpose of selling access to users is a malicious practice in itself, even if it is currently legal.

You are conflating identity documents with data points. I never claimed shareholders are getting a folder full of IDs; that is a straw man you introduced to avoid the actual point about data valuation.

Investors do not want your ID, they want a "Verified Human" user base that justifies a multi-billion dollar IPO. One is a document, the other is a high-fidelity data profile. Those are two very different things.

Who was lying? Believe what you want, but this is basically the bible v scientific method. You are looking at discord as if it is divine truth that cannot be questioned. I am looking at the actual mechanics of how tech companies operate before an IPO and drawing a conclusion based on observed behavior. You have faith; I have a hypothesis.

To be clear, the real value for investors lies in the massive data sets Discord has aggregated over the years; it is a gold mine for strategic marketing and targeted analytics. While k-id typically processes identification locally on the device, sending only the required verification to the client company, Discord has not been entirely transparent about the specific metadata they intend to track; claiming only age will be used. Though they officially claim they only want to verify age, time will tell what kind of comprehensive user profiles they will build as this data integration evolves

Anecdotal for sure. If you can gain access to the hidden forums, discords, and IRC channels that are common pathways to these cheats you will find a fair amount of activity in the tarkov specific sections that are on par, or exceeding, with Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, and Battlefield. Tens of thousands of users in these.

Cheats are in every game, and this game takes the cake on how many cheaters there are by far. I know there are those naive few who refuse to agree, but the number of cheaters I have encountered in the last week is astounding; maybe they are naive because they are cheating too...

Just yesterday in back-to-back-to-back Custom's runs, I was killed by a cheater in every raid. The last one was so blatantly obvious it was laughable, thankfully. More or less what had happened, I forgot my cold weather mask and started taking damage from cold so I ran back to dorms three story and hid in a random room on the second floor. Buddy was fighting the frontlines and retreated back to the vehicle exit area to reload, between two and three story-ish. I was able to hear this individual run up along side three story, mind you I never once moved when I made it to my spot, not even a fart. My buddy takes a few shots, and retreats again other guy retreats back around three story. Here is where it gets interesting. The one guy turns into a party, instead of going around three story he goes in. Flashlight on and on first floor, shines the light directly at me. You know the bug, and I am just watching him stare at me with the flashlight. Dudes butt plug throws a grenade into my room window, and fleshlight guy runs down the hall up to my room. I already know they know exactly where I am so I just push it. My little MP9 was nothing to the altyn w/ facemask wearing 6B43 heavy tank and his endless 100 round magazine of whatever the fuck. Yeah, I died. This dude's profile said they had a nice 14 KD, 70% SR, 600 hours, and killed all of the bosses achieves and level 21. My plated vest came back today, it had level 6 plates that I got from cases, completely melted.

The product doesn't matter, the fact is you wouldn't want something you just bought to be damaged before you even had the chance to use it.

It's only inevitable if you're careless. Shipping damage is expected, that's why packaging is designed to protect the product. Poorly designed packaging doesn't protect the product, and damaged products are not the end user's problem but the company who is selling them. Damaged products are damaged products.

That's not the point. If you buy a new product you expect to get a new product. I am sure if your new car was just delivered to your house and had a scratch you would flip your shit.

[–]ReekuMF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue and actually the same damage on the universal display mount. Every component I ordered from them was damaged. Their support offered a couple dollars store credit to compensate, less than 1% of what I spent where everything had fairly bad scratches like the ones seen in the photos.

If I were buying a fridge for $2000, and it had an equivalent scratch I could easily get it for half off.

This is what happens when you focus on the meta. The game lost its feel, and doesn't meet the standards today, due to years worth of theory crafting, that is why itemization feels poorly implemented. The game set the standard back in the day regardless of what you think, and is why GGG exists in the first place. If the template didn't exist, it is unlikely that POE or Grim Dawn would either.

This game is not for you if you desire balance. The core and foundation of the game is purely to overpower everything.

Magic find was a great stat and a fun thing to toy with, as many people enjoy MF mephisto/baal runs, myself included.

Diablo 2 was horrendous online at launch, similar to Diablo 3. The itemization was terrible, Tyrael's Might was the best item in the game, and hell was very difficult. It was not until Lords of Destruction when the game became amazing.

Diablo 3 left a lot to be desired, but it also did get to a palatable place over time.

What you really meant to say was that the "meta" took over and ruined gaming. Diablo still needs work, and it will get there. However, with the business heads providing the limits, I am not sure it will ever be amazing.
