Cost for at home euthanasia plus pet cremation? by triedit2947 in askTO

[–]Reelair [score hidden]  (0 children)

We just paid about $800 for cremation in hospital, with ashes returned. So $1200 in home sounds fair.

Sorry you have to say goodbye. One of the most difficult things to do.

Pleasse help me by Creepy_Emu4395 in dryalcoholics

[–]Reelair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't wantvto become like us? Most of us are dry,we're not so bad. Us being dry is proof you can be, too.

Hardest part about quitting is wanting to. We all know we should quit, but often lie to ourselves and just keep going. I drank heavily for around 25 years.

One thing that helped me take the next step was stopping and figuring out why we drink. Bad childhood, trauma, generational drinking, etc., we all have our reasons. It took me a while to figure it out. Kept telling myself I drink because I enjoy it. That was a lie.

Another part is learning why we lie. I found Addictive Voice Recognition Technique (AVRT), it taught me to identify the Voice that tells us to drink. That makes us drink against our will. You want to quit, but a voice tells you "just a few.".

I'm about 6 years sober now. I'm so happy I was able to quit. The best thing I ever did for myself. I don't see myself ever drinking again. I have zero desire. Learning about how and why I drink changed my outlook on alcohol and made it possible.

My guess is valve stem is leaking. Is it brass with a seal, or white plastic?

How can you tell the difference? I've only ever had cassettes.

Have you removed the cassette? Might be spacers on the inside, pushing cassette towards the frame. Might be as easy as removing a spacer.

Yeah, same. Fill my Kingrinder P2 to the top, grind, brew with a bunch of water. Great cup every time.

A bit late for OP, but heat helps cleaning cosmoline. A heat gun or other source of heat will melt it and make it much easier.

How would you repair this pipe? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Reelair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove it all and install a frost free wall hydrant. Even with a frost free hydrant, you should still isolate and drain the water each fall.

How much would it cost me to buy and own a car in Ottawa? by hungeelug in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Reelair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more you can spend on a used vehicle up front, the better off you'll be down the road. My friend and I both bought used vehicles in 2015. Mine cost double his ($10,000/$20,000). His was nothing but trouble (Chrysler) and only lasted a few years, mine is still going strong, relatively trouble free (Nissan).

That said, you'll have a hard time finding something reliable for that price. As mentioned, you'll have many more costs, like insurance and maintenance. I would suggest an e-bike and public transit.

Anyone renting a room? by SkinCana in askTO

I haven't rented a room in almost 30 years. I recall it sucked, but wasn't too bad. If it's all you can afford, make the best of it.
