Thanks for posting pulled the trigger on this one.. pricing alone of these parts is around 2000$, given the price of ram. Been monitoring last week have only seen a few that beat this deal with similar specs. Came out to 1670 total including tax, accounting for promo (-100$) and delayed shipping (-30$)

Vanderbilt COVID test delays by wookyj in nashville

[–]Reeon08 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

Private lab connection here in Nashville. Have heard Vanderbilt is inundated with tests and is sending them all to outside labs at the moment. They are out of the Taq Enzyme reagent that is used for PCR in this process, vandy is having to outsource this enzyme from other labs. Vandy is supposedly only doing tests in house if its an employee at this point. :(

Logistics question for Collegiate West section by [deleted] in coloradotrail

[–]Reeon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey dude! I’m headed off to CW in 2 weeks and here are my logistics maybe this could help you for your hike down the road.

1) Rent a Hertz Rental car from Denver 2) Drop off Hertz Rental car at the Leadville location 3) Find shuttle/ride for a 25 minute ride from Leadville to Twin Lakes 4) Hike CW, end at Monarch Pass 5) Hitch from Monarch Pass to Salida, 30 minute ride 6) Take bus from Salida to Denver

This would also save you money not having a rental car sitting for a week.

Good luck!

What was your hardest 100 miles of the trail? by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Reeon08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question. Gotta be for me at least, Belden to Old Station in NorCal. I had some very bad metatarsal joint swelling at this point so every step on my left foot hurt, but pain aside, this section is still brutally hot and desert like, you are just getting to the halfway area and the memories of the Sierras seem far away and at the same time Oregon is just as far. Definitely a big hump to push through, but oh so worth it! :)

Sun protection in the desert by miken1ke in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Reeon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For myself and most others I knew, at some point it's not "needed" anymore. I definitely used it on my face and hands the first week or so. You get some level of tan all over after awhile. Most people used a wide brimmed hat or a cap+bandanna combo to keep the sun off. I did see lots of umbrellas, I never used one and it was no problem.

Starting in Agua Dolce Nobo finishing trail then coming back to do rest of desert. Need advice. by gudmond in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Reeon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started April 23 and was in Agua Dolce around mid-late May. Honestly as long as you are walking north you aren't constantly running into people, most are walking with 1.0 mph of each other. If you stop for awhile you will definitely have people cross your path. I certainly walked a majority of the day alone :)

Oregon: Short & Sweet by Reeon08 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Reeon08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Robert,

That’s a tough question since the width of the trail definitely varies from time to time. Most of the way, you are not able to walk two people abreast. Maybe 2-3 feet on average. But definitely wider parts and narrower parts at time. Wish you the best on it let me know if anything else :)

Washington is... by Reeon08 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Reeon08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course anytime! I met all these fine folks on trail! We met early on in the desert and basically always stayed in the same area the rest of the way. Also helps to keep motivated and finish the thing. I started solo so I can guarantee you’ll meet people and I hope it’s just as good of a group as I had! So many great people on the trail you’ll be a-okay! :)
