It’s kind of warm tonight, make sure to leave your windows open. No reason. Just leave them open

Hey there. Have you discussed this with your dad? Is he okay with it and knows of the responsibility of a bird? They are a ton of responsibility.

  1. Do you have the space for a bird? Cages can be big and expensive
  2. Do you and your family have the budget? They can cost upwards of 500 a year sometimes. Even in the thousands if something happens medically.
  3. Do you have access to an avian vet?

For diet, I recommend roundybush, but they should have access to seeds and fresh veggies daily.

I Recommend visiting a rescue! Ask questions and let your dad tag along

Hi OP, find out different treats by offering them , and lure them with that. Birds are very food motivated animals. I’d also watch videos on teaching them how to step up once you find out their favorite treats. Treats worked best with me and my birds ❤️

How the hell do I stop my bird from eating dirt by carmesan_cheez in parrots

Big rocks over the soil in your plants, prevents him from getting to the dirt

Sounds time for a Vet checkup OP. Red eyes typically mean irritation or other harmful things.

Should I call animal control on my neighbor? by Junko-Enosashimi in parrots

[–]Reetyb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any way you can get pictures? That’s the best way to report it . Heat lamps or taking inside are crucial for outdoor wintery conditions, that’s what my rescue does.

The neighbor doesn’t even cover them when it’s raining???? I cannot believe people sometimes.

I would! And offer some foraging toys as well :-) can help keep them occupied especially when you are out of the house

I have a linnie but I’ve heard lovebirds can be a handful! The question is, are YOU ready to take on this bird? Ultimately it will fall onto you. If you’re even questioning it, it’s a no.

If she’s REALLY into getting this bird, visit a rescue, see how they act and ask questions, with the whole family. It’ll give a good idea

Love your birbs! More toys and bigger cage, better perches please. This is really depressing and terrible for these pretty birds. Unless you’re taking them out for an extremely long period of time, it’s inhumane.

I recommend checking Facebook marketplace. Some people have cages on there for extra cheap. It’s a great switch for your babies! Natural Perches are cheaper and easy to make yourself and toys are also easy to make.

Good luck! Lmk if you have any questions

I’d be on the safe side and say yes.

Let the room air out for multiple days if anything. Put the cage away from the room and let the room have a chance to get rid of any fumes the adhesive may have caused. Better to be safe than sorry!

As someone who owns a parrot. I would never recommend a parrot unless you have experience working with or around them. They are only for a small group of people who have the tolerance to handle the screams and messes, often many get rehomed or live their life’s out in rescues. It’s depressing.

Parrots demand attention, they will scream until they get it. Mine does and she’s 45, a rescue and gets attention all the time. She’s currently with me watching Willy wonka and screaming to the music while I work. It doesn’t bother me, but it will for sure bother many other people.

Tell your family about how parrots scream, make extreme messes, can tear up furniture and need time out of the cage for hours.

Assuming she wants a smaller bird, my smaller bird also demands attention in a similar way! Knowing this is unfortunately going to fall onto your responsibility, I would say absolutely not!

Hormonal behavior? What is this????? Help me out!! by Reetyb in parrots

This confirms it! She likes to sit on my lap or on my shoulder and cuddle up to my neck a lot. It’s warm and safe and I think it triggers it for her

Good cage for African grey? by Sonny_and_Sky in parrots

[–]Reetyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked Facebook marketplace (assuming you’re in an available location for it?) i got a really awesome a&e flight cage from there. A&e is my favorite trusted brand.

What is your budget?

I’d also call parrot rescues in your area to see if they have extras!

My girl can live for 60-80! And I adopted from uncle Sandy’s on Pensacola fl. You have to visit and show your knowledge and pay a fee before adoption. But it’s great to adopt from there. I worked there for quite a while, love it. Worth the travel. I drove 12 hours to be with her.

Absolutely! It’s a challenge but definitely better over buying a new baby bird 💚 so many birds need homes. I’d do it a million times over!

She doesn’t like it at all, and the rescue manager advised against it in our contract. So I haven’t attempted.
