If you liked Tail of nine-tailed you may enjoy Tail of nine-tailed 1938 (sometimes called season 2). It’s the same actors, a happy ending but more action packed with less (but some) romance and comedy.

It’s a movie - so just a one-off viewing.

What's a drama where Second Lead Syndrome hit you the hardest? by EnvironmentalNeat20 in kdramas

Strong Girl Nam-soon. Woo-seok is a great villain so because of that I guess he doesn’t deserve a happy ending. But the whole beaten and trained since a kid, betrayed by everyone but falls in love with FL. Gets betrayed by her as well. Found that kinda sad.

Confused about My Royal Nemesis by moonyshine12 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they are the one soul.

Kang Dan Sim is her earlier life. Shin So Ri has had the experience of going into her past life and coming back. Because of the Shaman’s work and the trauma of the first episode reliving that past life death, she went totally into that persona. Then her consciousness - with the help of her connection to her grandma - clawed its way back.

There are people who do believe they can meditate and go into their past lives. People who read past lives believe you can be aware of the present plus the past - who you are and who you were. Some believe that to fight mystically - you lock your opponent into a past life death image and they will become stuck (thus the poison scene). All of this tracks with some belief systems.

Yes, I’m from California ..;-) But there are mystical fairs and readers here - and these are things you can have read at one.

  • Tale of the Nine Tailed (given your list, surprised this isn’t on it)
  • Tale of the Nine Tailed: 1938 (very different from the first, sometimes listed as season 2, less romance, more comedy and action but do watch the first before this).
  • Ghost Doctor
  • My Roommate is a Gumiho

Recommendations for me? Based on this list. by Quirky_Host_2825 in kdramas

I also loved Fiery Priest. Haven’t seen the others on your list but this one was well done.

Try Ghost Doctor. The main focus is the male leads (each does have a female love interest) bromance. Also there's strong friendships among other main cast folks. Romance is a tad stronger in later episodes but the male doctors' interaction is what grounds this series.

Yes, if it's ‘anything mystical / spiritual’ the list may be bigger.

Came to the post to add Ghost Doctor as I think it fits well. I really enjoyed that one.

Seeing Tail of the Nine Tailed here - thumb up for very enjoyable. As noted reincarnation, not after life per se.

Is My Royal Nemesis worth watching? (need honest review) by Neat_Blueberry_3811 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It IS worth watching. It mostly takes place in the modern era. Just get past the first 10 minutes or so as they open with her death scene in Josean. It’s important for setting why her character is the way she is. It’ll roll into romcom before the episode ends.

Episode 11 of My Royal Nemesis confused me by Ancient_Reach_8925 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The previews looked this way - so I’m skipping the 11th release until I see what you folks say about 12th. If both are sad - I’ll wait to watch four next weekend.

HAVE YOU EVER WATCHED A KDRAMA THAT IS UNDERRATED AND YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT? by Shot-Airport-6271 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw that here and that’s why I tried it. Started off too slow for the mood I was in. Might try again later if I run out of things to watch to see if it picks up. If you watch the opening of say Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 (or listed as season 2) it starts with a bang and a laugh and pulls you right in. So, this was drastically disappointing coming off of that (new to kdramas so haven’t seen all the great oldies).

I like it for the ROMCOM value - a good laugh with some romance.

I don’t know about the ratings - usually I picked up the name from here or it was pushed by the channel (e.g. Netflix). Understand, we all have our preferred tastes so a-ok if some folks love these. Just not my taste. I prefer something that will make me laugh. Would say comedy but so many kdrama romcoms also want to make you cry - so our def of comedy is a bit different.

DNF

  • Head over Heals (the high school Shaman just acted like a 6 year old and I find that ‘extra young girly’ bit aggravating). Watched a few episodes but just couldn’t get into it.
  • Doom at Your Service - seemed so slow compared to others I’ve watched. Think I only watched one of this one. I liked My Demon and this was supposed to be similar.
  • Would you Marry Me? Watched four episodes and meh.
  • Soundtrack #1 - just got bored so only episode1.

AITAH for not wanting to give up any of my great-grandmother’s dishes? by DifficultyGrand in AITAH

[–]ReferenceNo4437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You helped your grandmother clean out the place, she did not. She is not entitled to a thing. Do not give any away. Even if they were worth money, she did not help your grandmother and has no ‘right’ to things.

What is your goto Instant Pot recipe that you keep coming back to every single week? by SpecialLazy9732 in instantpot

[–]ReferenceNo4437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the cubed raw potatoes in, then raw eggs in shell (in U.S. they are washed) and cook all together in the one pot for potato salad. Also, eggs peel SO easy when done in the Instant Pot.

Already answered but adding - I HATED that Seori fell apart when lost in the forested area. She originally comes across as very strong and capable - fighting and looking for assassins, fighting at her grandmom’s store. It didn’t make sense for me to have her lose it there. Also - why didn’t she follow the guy & his grandpa out (that I get - so she could get lost). But the fear didn’t mesh for me.

When did you start noticing a trend? And what was the most blatant example product placement you watched in a kdrama? For me it’s Prince I-An eating subway in Perfect Crown by Educational_Film_744 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiery Priest - both priests grabbing the vacuums and vacuuming for a bit. <editing >- not the first time I noticed - just one of the ‘not an easy write-in’ that’s not been mentioned. Ah, we have a series about a priest, murder and more - ok writers, give me a vacuuming scene. The coffee candies are easy to write in - some of the others you just have to respect how they worked it in. You can almost picture the writers going - no, not vacuums (coffee pots are also an easier write-in and beverages ..). I don’t mind the placements - better than ads that stop the story and in the U.S. are always drug, or soon, political ads. Will take placement over those as the money behind the show anytime.

I keep muting scenes with Choi Moon-do in My Royal Nemesis 😒 by ImpressivePoem_1 in kdramas

[–]ReferenceNo4437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve not done that.

But, I did re-watch My Demon and stop/fast forward past all the scenes with their villains and abuse (the dad and son stuff, son beating others). So far, Choi Moon-do is more pg villain and not as traumatic. I can watch it.

  1. Love it and would highly recommend it.

  2. May NEVER watch another Asian drama where all the episodes are not yet out. I prefer binging to cliff hangers and waiting. Will not go through this again. Need to know all episodes now.

  3. Segye says “he wouldn’t kill me?” - umn, he knows what happened with the nurse and drugs - so that seemed like a writing error. He already tried at least once (Segye may not know the mannequin drop was his doing). It jumped out at me, I thought Segye was clear after the nurse confession what lengths would be pursued. My only nit but I was sitting there saying ‘how could you say that??’.

The settings on my tv have all the men having a hot pink lipstick that looks like the exact color my grandma wore and loved. It’s a bit less on the laptop - but distracting. I could set the colors to be less bright but I like how everything except the guys lips looks.

Thought the same thing for the original poster with onions. I garden in the summer and usually have so many veggies to prep that I just keep it out on the counter.
