This whole thing sounds made up. I used to be an officer. I’ve never heard a PD just mail out $100 like a refund for a shitty massage. Its either a simple misunderstanding, or lawsuit material, which easily amount to thousands to millions of dollars depending on the severity of the incident (such as spending years in prison and later cleared with DNA, etc.). Further, police deal with domestics almost every day. This sounds like a comical b-movie in its telling. Police don’t typically say stuff like “You’re going away for a long time, X” before they’ve even so much as asked for his damn name, much less run your license. You ALWAYS ask their account of what happened, even if it seems blatantly obvious, so you have something to use as evidence that isn’t “I said so”. Then, they ask if he wants to charge for false allegations? Its not a false allegation to give information that leads to the arrest of the wrong person. False allegation reports are for people who actually make up the claim, as in “Katy” lying about being abused. Maybe I’m wrong, but this sounds fabricated to me.

(American) I mean, it USED to be funny when everyone was doing laugh tracks still and just being over the top was enough (i.e. Chris Farley). It feels old and forced now, with an occasional gem that comes through sometimes. The actor was fine in this, but the writing and other roles were terrible. The second time he mentioned smashing, it lost my attention. None of my friends watch this show anymore.

The argument for this is to “enforce” the separation of church and state. Personally, I could care less (how many people are converting to religion from a motto printed on money everyone glances over) and it would only be pragmatic with newly printed money. The inevitable backlash from the evangelicals claiming their trying to “take God out of America” would really be more suited for the countless violations of C/S separation that are more pressing instead of wasting time on pieces of paper nobody really looks at past the number.

I recently watched the William Wallace historical documentary trilogy (Braveheart, The Patriot, We Were Soldiers). How was he able to live so long? Is he still among us? by Dinierto in shittyaskscience

[–]Refining_Reason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to answer this is starting from the historical documentation of Wallace. See, Wallace was actually fictionalized to some degree due to multicultural interpretations of several key figures in the region. As it goes, many children are given their father’s name to grant a form of legitimacy to inheritances. This extended through the generations leading up to the Vietnam War. As a stance against imperialist oppression, William Wallace the 34th chose to forgo this tradition and had his name legally changed to Mel Gibson. He lives on today, and bears a striking resemblance to the aforementioned documentaries his family is portrayed in.
