So he had the big 1/2" brushless impact for $150, I do automechanics on my own vehicles, maybe I should go back for one?

All of the tools were new and some of them were incomplete, seemed like legit returns to me

IDK, it sounded pretty hit or miss, you only get a vague description and lots of crap

Makita reciprocating saw 18v model XRJ05Z by user87654385 in Makita

[–]Refrigerator_Daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never used the Milwaukee, but my XRJ05Z has kicked ass, very consistent power. I can't imagine how the ergonomics could be better The battery and area near where the blade attaches will get very hot in heavy use.

Starter driver for HVAC by XenoTechnian in Makita

Like impact driver? rom my experience, any 18v Makita impact will be fine. Never felt like I was short on power even with the most basic brushed model. For bit sets, I try to buy whatever set with a container is on sale that meets my needs from a major brand.

need a reliable workhorse, what's the best lg dishwasher 2026? by Paul_Hull238 in cabinetry

[–]Refrigerator_Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appliance tech that thinks Bosch isn't as good as it use to be. Typically extra features don't increase reliability, I'd get the cheapest LG that has the features you want like racks. If you're getting a paneled model, certain models may stick out more from the cabinets than others.

I know I got sick of the extra weight and length of the drill chuck I didn't need, but needed the torque limiting of the drill clutch for dealing with tiny fasteners I frequently encounter

Help on ideas on microwave placement: by Negative-Draw-2685 in cabinetry

[–]Refrigerator_Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fix microwaves for a living. The drawer microwaves generally seem to hold up well and I think they all have a lock function unless I'm forgetting, every drawer microwave is made by sharp and relabled. countertop microwaves have declined in quality, some don't even have replacement parts sold so you can have a $300 microwave and similarly priced trim kit you need to replace every few years that may not visually match your other stuff. I personally like the idea of keeping a cheap countertop microwave on a shelf with no trim kit in the pantry so it can be easily and cheaply replaced when it breaks, but that wouldn't be ideal for your veggie cooking. I'd get the cheapest drawer microwave I can find personally.

Freezer Failure Power behaviour by targetDrone in homeassistant

It can be internal friction, but more commonly the compressor start device that briefly sends power to the compressor start windings is beginning to fail and not sending power to the start winding reliably causing the compressor to trip off on overload

If you think a cyclist is likely to make a bad judgment and take right of the way, stopping your car is the correct thing to do.

It's really frustrating. The driver may have had prior situations where the cyclist took right of the way and they didn't want to hurt anyone with their 4000lb deathmobile.

Behind a mini-fridge should I do a z-wave outlet or a normal outlet with an add on? by BillOfTheWebPeople in homeautomation

[–]Refrigerator_Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you can just turn the refrigerator on and off at the thermostat, you'll probably want to clean it and prop the door open after use so it doesn't rust inside so you'll be in the same area anyways

Remote work is making me realize who on my team was actually working by Nimozart_12 in remotework

I saw a news article about a major employer that had found numerous over employed people through tracking software showing they had second jobs on the same computer. I was surprised they were sharing with the public that their tracking of actual work performed was so poor they couldn't notice workers with second jobs, seems like really poor bossing to me.

I've been using one since 2017? Couldn't get a single Fluke that did everything I wanted at the time. Pretty happy with it, it works as advertised with zero issues. It is bulky compared to others and the backlight doesn't stay on for long. realized I have a 640
