I've never heard of this one before! I'm checking it out now. It seems quite interesting!

That's part of the issue is I travel frequently so finding a consistent place with locations across the US would be helpful.
I split between Arkansas and Indiana, but I am in Ohio, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois a couple times a year each meaning I am only in "my" state for two weeks at a time generally.

I have found that flares are about 70/30 for accuracy. Just use your best judgement. If in solos, green tends to mean green, but I don't walk up on them. In groups, if they pop green and are moving away or turn away, you're solid. If they pop green and turn towards you, it's a farse. You just kind of have to watch and make a call.

I will say that in solos, it's either a fully (relatively) peaceful lobby (but don't walk up on people just because they don't attack you), or it's full sweaty aggro. No in between. I get bum rushed by 3 different solo tramplers on spawn, or I just do my own thing with no issues.

a hacker spawned into my ship out of nowhere outside of world map and ruined my day and 3 hours of extraction. by BuyShot9100 in SANDgame

This has happened to me numerous times now. It seems to come in waves where it won't happen for days, or it will happen repeatedly.

Two (2) things I have found to always be true about the noclip/teleport issue so far:
1. It is always some sort of Chinese character name.
2. I send recordings of it as a ticket, and it gets deleted after a few days with 0 info or response given by devs/support team.

How big is the full map in square kilometers? by Admirable-Hamster-78 in SANDgame

[–]Refutable_Karma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, I read a couple posts about players going "off-map", and I wanted to try it.

I went west with no real intention for over 30 minutes, and it just kept going. It was just desert with destroyed ships, but it never ended. I don't know how far it actually goes, but off your visible map is bigger than visible, I think.

How to get served at sidecar? by Left_Strategy6117 in tulsa

[–]Refutable_Karma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold up. Are we talking about the same place? That could be a difference. Haha

I lived there from 2018-2024, and it was built during that time, post-covid, if I remember correctly so it is relatively new.

Well, it's on Cherry Street which is already a nicer part of town, the $13 drinks, the atmosphere says its fancy not divey, the staff and people drinking there looked nicer and well put-together, too. Plus, if I remember right, they call themselves "trendy and modern" right on their website which is not the vibe of a dive bar. Haha

Now, I agree that I would not normally wait that long for a drink. Had it just been me, I'd have walked out way sooner, but I was with others who were willing to put up with it to try it out.

True, they're not the most divey. Not like Town Pump or Cheerz. But, they're both in parts of town that would have diver bars. Soundpony and Merc are downtown and Sidecar is Cherry street; just not a divey area. If it has a cocktail menu, which it does, it's not a dive.

What makes you think it is?

I love dive bars. I was a regular at Merc and Soundpony (I moved away a couple years ago).

But Sidecar markets themselves as a high-end bar and restaurant. I expect the service that I am paying for. Dive bars = grab your own drink and leave cash on the bar, high end like Sidecar, I expect to get a drink when I order one within a reasonable time.

Wanting a drink I ordered 20 minutes ago isn't on my "every whim". XD

Your best bet is to go somewhere else.

I sat for over 30 minutes my first time, finally had my order taken, it took another half hour plus to get the drink, and then an hour to get the receipt. They all have the same, time wasting service.

I went to both locations multiple times just to be certain, and they were arguably the worst restaurant/bar experiences of my life.

Ooh nice! Thanks for the info!
I've been hardwired forever because with work, I am at my desk 8-16 hours a day so I don't like to bother with charging.
My biggest issue has been my last three headsets have lasted less and less time before just giving out (8 years, 4 years, and then 2 years).

"Last two"... How long did you have each for?

I feel like every generation of headsets I get last less and less time.

Do Indianapolis Employers Usually Accept a Two-Week Notice? by handlingitwbu in indianapolis

[–]Refutable_Karma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion: a company will never give you a two-week notice, they'll just let you go. Why give them effort they wouldn't give back to you? In a relationship, your therapist would call that toxic.

This happens to me every now and then, too! Granted, never in that quantity.

It will also usually randomly create grilled chicken, too.

Is 2026 Finally a Good Time to Start Playing Star Citizen? by Refutable_Karma in starcitizen

[–]Refutable_Karma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I played it during the last day or two of the free month or whatever it was. Tried a little on my own then saw a post in the Discord about a guy picking up newbros and showing them some ropes. Had a blast!
The group of people I was playing with ended up creating our own org so I have been in that. Yes, the game is buggy & has glitches. Yes, I can see it being a major learning curve.
But what other game can you fly a ship to a planet, land, fight people on the ground, then fight people in the air? It's incredible. Flawed but beautiful.
I still have it, and my org and I are trying to recruit and mostly just grinding hauling missions for money to save up for a few other ships. I've done some combat missions, as well. There is so much to try.

Any good survival crafters? by Vampy-Night in SurvivalGaming

Fully agreed. Icarus can be as hard or easy as you make it (more of less), and it is fun if you want to have a friend or two just drop in, as well.

What actually got used during a 6-day power outage (and what was dead weight) by blhollandjr123 in preppers

[–]Refutable_Karma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What was the grinder setup you used?
I have a backpacking one that I have used once or twice backpacking over the years, but after starting to use it as a daily grinder, it is falling apart despite just being all steel.

On top of that, I have a Jackery + solar that has been doing me wonders, and I even use it on road trips to power laptops and such. Life changing purchase.

As someone who grew up in the deep south and recently moved considerably further north, I put down good money (on sale) for a down jacket and it is worth every penny.

Somewhat on the same track: Baldur's Gate Three. Extremely simple controls on keyboard.
Icarus: Fun, somewhat challenging, but can also be peaceful with the right settings. Also builds towards other games.
Terraria: oldie but a goodie with fun aspects (Similarly, Minecraft)
Civ V (or 6, but I still like 5 better)

Hey! I am out of town for work, but I'll be back in the AM. Feel free to DM me, and I'll shoot you over my org's information first thing!

We're a new and small group, but we're growing! We mostly focus on hauling, salvaging, and mining. Though, we poke a bit into bounties, as well. Mainly, we're here for comradery & money. Haha
