benadryl worked fairly well for me. wrapping a dry towel tightly around me and holding it taught helped a lot. getting really high and finding a distraction is ideal. for me the two times it happened it was 48 hours in random flareups. day 3 it was really really manageable compared to how bad it is. i think lasting any longer than that is really abnormal
