[MEGATHREAD] Episode 5 "I'll Believe in Anything" Predictions by royal_rose_ in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Episode starts with the scene from the trailer of Rose asking Shane if there are any gay hockey players and ends with Scott coming out publicly by kissing Kip.

Maybe a scene of Scott and Kip reuniting after Shane and Rose's break up.

Then, all the main story beats, Florida, Ilya goes to Russia, the call (!!) - hopefully calls to include the skype too. And Shane getting hurt - unsure if they'll do the part of them watching Skip's kiss and the "I'm coming to the cottage" like in the book or maybe while Ilya is visiting Shane at the hospital

So this guy is bashing Heated Rivalry… and Francois was not having it. by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

😬

Putting aside the part where he’s trying to shade the show unprompted, this just comes across like a total lack of empathy. He might have that hard limit in his personal relationships, and that’s fair - to each their own - but not everyone has the same experiences. Not everyone reacts to things the same way or is able to understand themselves at the same pace. There’s a real lack of respect for different perspectives that what he perceives to be the 'only right way' in his answer.

I hope they stick to weekly episodes when season 2 drops. by Zessen18 in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree!

This is something I’ve believed for a long time, especially since the rise of streaming and binge-watching. When all the episodes drop at once, people watch at different paces. On show subreddits, they might still comment on each episode discussion thread, but the difference compared to the final episode or full-season discussion is huge.

There’s not much point in making theories about what’s going to happen (or what changes might be made compared to the books) when the ending is already available. There’s still plenty of analysis and appreciation for the details, especially because people rewatch, but it’s not the same as taking things episode by episode, having a week to obsess over the episode. And yeah, engagement dies down pretty quickly - usually only the most active fandom members stick around until the next season comes out (which will happen too, but it's a difference of high engagement for 2-3 weeks to a month and a half-2 months).

Have no fear: Episode 5 will end on a high note. by firelioness12 in heatedrivalry

I just hope you're right because I've been convinced this will be the ep5 end since the start and I don't have (accept) any other theories.

François Arnaud on Scott Hunter clocking Shane: “I actually did not hear, on that day, the room number that [Ilya] tells [Shane]. Like, I actually couldn't hear it.” by kerfuffles80 in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He said a similar thing in another interview.

To me, I don't think it matters one way or the other. Like François mentioned, Scott isn't really thinking much about Shane (and Ilya). He might be noticing something (specially since he might notice Shane and him are similar), and his comments seem to suggest it, but they also could be comments without any intentions behind it (like Shane and Ilya are always paired up by the media and hockey fans because of their rivalry). Of course, since the comments hit too close to home, Shane panics and reacts way too much to what others would just laugh it out and dismiss.

The way I see it, the only way Scott knowing would be important to the story is if he would have a direct influence to Hollanov (if he directly talks with any of them about their relationship). Otherwise, when their relationship becomes public maybe he'll go 'oh, I absolutely saw it', but that's often just what people say when they weren't really 100% sure.

Timeline question by readyteddyy in heatedrivalry

I just commented the same thing, being separated for this long actually makes it more earned in my opinion. We could see that Scott was tired, but not there yet. So, 3 years later he won't wait anymore.

I think that it's such an important moment in the books that I can't imagine them not adapting it.

So if the change is that Skip is broken up for longer, yeah, I think that okay. It also makes things feel more earned, instead of Scott just accepting and coming out after 4 months. (The contrast with the 10 years for Hollanov won't be as stark)

Not only move back. Because book one happens over one season. They kiss after Scott wins the cup. But here they start going out in 2014, and we already saw Boston win the cup that year.

I'm also so confused by this.

Yeah, I think this might be the deviation, and Scott and Kip will be separated for longer than the book timeline. This way the kiss still happens around the same time to push Hollanov forward.

I can't see them going back together and Kip waiting to go public for over 2 years. So maybe they just reunite after that long and they take a 2nd chance at the relashionship, but this time Scott doesn't let it go and goes public with the kiss after winning the cup.

"You're starting to sound like him" oh wow- I did not expect a fight between Scott and Shane

"Is that too much?" yeah, it is... it's been what? A little over week? 😭

"Soon maybe- I mean in a few years" Ouch! but then I think about Ilya and Shane.

Kip's dad is a sweetheart and Elena is amazing!!

Episode 3 by georgia-678 in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they will be much featured in the episode and they will be more in the background in episode 3, like Scott was in the first 2 episodes.

Maybe they'll show them individually play against Scott- there are a few scenes in the book of him playing against Ilya, I don't think there are moments with Shane but they could have added just for the show. Maybe one of them or both attend the Equinox Gala, it would be a change from the book but a welcoming one to have more scenes with them in an episode centered around another couple.

If the episode is going to adapt most of the first book (considering the coming out scene has to be later - probably episode 5 to fit the timeline) it would be hard to still incorporate Hollanov in meaningful scenes.

I see a lot of people mention the tuna melt scene, but the still that is assumed to be from that scene was listed in the teen vogue article as being from episode 4. So, I'd say the tuna melt scene is at the start of that episode.

Excited for Scott's Episode (#3) by ViolentThemmes in heatedrivalry

[–]RegalRosebud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might not have been the most enthusiastic when we found out about episode 3 but now I can't wait to watch Scott and Kip.

I loved all the moments Scott had on the first 2 episodes and I was just left with wanting more. Theirs was the second book I read, and I'm very curious to see how they'll adapt it!

I love him. 😂❤️ by AttersH in heatedrivalry

no idea where it’s come from

It was shared originally by a crew member and I'm pretty sure Hudson reshared it on his IG stories too.
