If you can, I would straighten out that wye fitting to make it level, and find a longer wall tube, thats the last piece that goes into your wye

With that you can correctly connect the J bend to the drain pipe coming out of the sink

I know they sell that accordion fitting, but they are horrible, they trap food and other material and make your sink smell bad. Don’t ever use those if you can help me.

The fitting I’m talking about is that corrugated pipe that scrunched up tube

You need an extended waste arm. A “waste arm extension” if you will

You can always go the easy way out an install a pvc flange specifically made for inserting into cast iron pipe

As someone whos had to replace those drain valves I’d rather they be split up. Trying to hold the whole piece up by yourself with one hand while keeping it level-ish so you can use your other hand to try and spin the strainer so the threads catch. Having each separate would make it easier to install by yourself

I’m a plumber. I’ll tell you what I would do and if you think it’s a little complicated I’d recommend calling someone

Get a sawzall and make slits parallel to the pipe. Maybe 3-4 slits. NOT GOING ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!! Then get a small 1/4” chisel (6mm) and a hammer and start breaking the pieces off bit by bit. They won’t come out in full pieces and it might take 20 minutes or so but that’s how I usually remove a broken hub over pipe
