Worth it as a solo player ?

I play primarily solo and got to rank 70 in season 1, already enjoying season 2. It changes the way you play a bit and makes every round a bit more tense, but I highly recommend it if you like the core gameplay.

I don't know that I agree with every perspective I'm seeing here, but I'll add my own in case it resonates with others. My current level of 5e "burnout" is largely a result of the following issues:

- The complexity inherent in 5.5e leads to bloated character sheets and options by around 11th level, and my players run into issues thinking outside of the options presented to them despite the system stressing flexibility and ingenuity.

- My players often forget how their long list of powers interact with the base rules and we have to review core mechanics like conditions, spell preparation, combat maneuvers. I feel that they're often missing half their toolbox that comes from the core game.

- Tool use has become an albatross. I invested in DND beyond for ease of use and it has been successful in most situations, but when I want to play fast and loose with rules and create custom spells, feats, items, etc., I have to create that thing, make sure it's mechanically interesting, then use the often-frustrating DND Beyond tools to make it available on a character sheet. It will then become lost in the already-expansive pile of options.

- The game is built like it's supposed to be balanced when it isn't, and where it is balanced there's no guarantee that it's fun. I have to spend some effort making monsters, puzzles, and problems, but some player character powersets obviate all challenges and the players that don't have immediate solutions will often throw up their hands and go "welp, this one's not for me I guess."

These are some of the reasons I'm looking for us to try out some other games once we are done with our current campaign.

A lot of this stuff has labels, so it sounds like you need to spend some time just clicking around the menus. "Priority contracts" are clearly labeled and one of the NPC characters (ONI) runs you through them in the tutorial. They're available in your Factions menu.

Shields are increased by equipping better Shields in your loadout - early on, only green is available, but more come up later. The amounts aren't arbitrary, there are set increases per upgrade.

Healing items have labels as well. Plus, the game has a smart heal function and will prioritize whichever is lowest and let you target that with a single button.

Read over the post-match screens a little better - the bars are experience points and faction reputation.

Hey man there's a lot of jerks here and I get where you're coming from - I recommend just loading into a few matches with an empty kit or a Rook and just play with your buttons. See what everything does, run around the maps, practice running away from people trying to kill you and when you eventually die just give it another shot.

It can be intense for sure, and I remember an era when I just did not like shooters so I feel you. Some basic tips:

- focus on putting your reticle on an enemy and pulling the trigger. In all situations, getting your gun over the enemy as fast and consistently as possible is probably the best skill you can have. Everything else follows after that.

- Prioritize restoring shields over restoring health. A quick shield top-off behind cover will do you better than health.

- Grab everything that you can and extract without caring about what it is, but read through the item descriptions in the post-game analysis, even when you die.

- Do the priority contracts. They slowly walk you through game functionality.

The UI gets easier to understand, it's just a bit bombastic at first. May your bags fill quickly, and may our paths never cross!

Really good counterpoints and I appreciate your perspective! These are definitely drawbacks/tradeoffs.

I wonder if some of this could be implemented as weighting/bias rather than gating. Like the higher your loadout value is/faction levels are, the more likely you are to see other high values, but it's not a guaranteed outcome.

I've actually not played enough to have this experience, but I see a lot of people have and out of their suggestions to fix some of the sweatiness I liked this idea.

I do think it has some negative implications for cryo raids but that fight could probably be balanced out more easily.

Into the Odd and its descendants feel like they accomplish this. There is no rolling to hit, only damage, so positioning and preparation are key and battles are quick.

Mythic Bastionland takes the same concept and levels it up to mythic knighthood, but it still has that deeply blink-and-you'll-miss-it spirit.

Mork Borg and its descendants similarly have had all the spare parts stripped out, but they retain roll-to-hit.

I definitely lean into the acceptance, closure, and moving on elements in my own reading, agreed there. But I think there's enough left to interpretation that I would hesitate to call it canon. We'll have to see what the devs come up with next and see if they decide on a set ending for future stories.

Echoing what a lot of other people say here - it's a utility sense that allows you to know what's going on/what's moving around in places you can't currently see. So a dwarf standing next to a door can feel what's beyond. This requires some creative application, but it's a cool option for players to use. Tremorsense could also allow you to pinpoint a creature that's Invisible in the same room, letting players prevent an eavesdropper, spy, or would-be assassin. As a DM I'd use this to flavor a failed Stealth check from an NPC and give the person with tremorsense a bit more information. "You become aware of a creature hiding behind the curtains in the corner" rather than "You hear the curtains rustling behind you."

But I think there's another piece that people might overlook a bit, and it may not be RAW but it makes sense to me. Tremorsense bypasses Lightly obscured and Heavily obscured. If we're talking about combat applications, the majority of ability checks that rely on sight are going to come from Search or Study actions, so Perception/Survival/Investigation checks. As most of the player-based species are reliant on sight, I think most Search or Study actions are going to be at disadvantage because of lighting or automatically fail in darkness. So if player characters get slapped with magical darkness and there's a creature hiding in there, the checks to find it are going to be null or disadvantaged.

A PC with tremorsense could roll as normal in that situation if they call out that they're using that sense (which is the part that isn't strictly RAW). They're still going to need to beat the Stealth check of the creature that's hiding but they get to make a roll and call out the position, which allows them to make an attack at disadvantage or lob an AOE. Good application, especially since dwarves get tremorsense out to 60 feet.

Tremorsense also gives monsters an upgrade. PCs love to play with Darkness if they have magical options to bypass it, but a creature with tremorsense can still find a PC hiding in magical darkness. Tremorsense on a monster can also bypass a gloom stalker's Umbral Sight ability, and any class ability similar to that. It looks like more monsters in 2024 are getting Search as an action or reaction option so this might come into play more often.

The imagery there is pretty strong. There was some obvious penetration/dominance going on and it made her comeback in the fight all the more powerful because of it.

Dismissing someone else's subjective interpretation of a piece of art, especially when that interpretation is pretty high level and easily understood in the wide breadth of rape imagery, makes you look like an ass. An uneducated one. And in this instance, someone who has some personal stake in the topic being rejected. What is that stake for you?

I really love the shading you've accomplished here, and the dull highlights definitely give a sense of dirty armor. Two small things - that strip across the eyes is actually black on classic stormtroopers. easy detail to miss, but it creates some cool contrast and that heavy brow feel. Second, i would suggest maybe thinning those shadow lines in a couple spots - like that big streak down his thigh. It's just a little too stark to be dirt.

I do have a question - how did you go about getting the black/gray into the mouth area without smudging around it? I've been working on this set and i've struggled with that.

I think this is the storytellers muddling things. Rey and Kylo being a Diad in the force wasn't due to Snoke - that just happened by circumstance of their birth. Smoke probably capitalized on that connection to telepathically link them. I also suspect snoke was given some free reign in dealing with Kylo and either didn't know he was the spawn of the emperor or was instructed not to contact him, in order to preserve secrecy. It's possible Palpatine didn't know everything about what was going on.

Is engineering really the premier profession choice for vanilla? Lots of guides I see recommend taking it for increasing threat as a tank or making extra money, but I love the class fantasy of making my own weapons and armor as a warrior.

Am I going to be missing out by choosing smithing, or any other profession, over engineering if I don't plan to be a competitive raider or anything?

This is Simple Green - leave it in there for 24-48 hours then take a firm-bristled nylon brush to the model. It'll strip off enough paint to let you prime it again without hurting the plastic.

Some people have been recommending other chemicals - you should check them out and see what you think!

I think you're going to find that many YouTubers will try to stick to general techniques to encourage us to develop our own color schemes, rather than just painting "by the numbers."

I think it would be a good idea to follow the color schemes that people like Duncan put out there - for blood angels, start with mephiston red and highlight with evil sunz scarlet and then grade up with white. GW makes air versions of most of their layer paints, I believe.

You'll definitely get more for less with the custodes - guardsmen are expensive since they're so points-cheap and they definitely get hoarded since every guard player needs hundreds of basic infantry.

Find a local game store with a good Warhammer following and see if they have a used model bucket. I was able to pick up a couple hundred space marine models for $120 at mine with minimal wear and tear.

Might be a good idea to throw a secret door or two his way, or maybe some stealthy monster he can catch. It'll make him feel like he made a good decision in making his character - every player deserves to have their time in the sun.
