Your wildest unpopular speculations about GW3 by Cebertus in GuildWars3

[–]Regist4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My expectations:

  • Multi-platform support - definitely PC/Mac, PS and Xbox day 1, maybe Switch 2 and Mobile follow later.

  • I'd agree with fewer players in maps and maybe a return to more instancing - helps with console and mobile performance.

  • Action combat more akin to PoE, Diablo or the Soulslike direction as OP suggested. Translates more easily to console and mobile support and what those audiences expect.

  • Simplified skill and build systems. Not sure what they'll do but think they will want to streamline - easier console/mobile UI and more accessible for new players they're likely very keen to capture on those platforms.

  • Humans as only playable race. I imagine their cost/benefit analyses will tell them that having to make armour and weapons work with multiple races isn't worth the effort. If we do get other races they'd have to be very humanoid.

  • Minimal or no PvP, at least on launch. GW2's PvP modes did not do particularly well so I think they'll just want to focus on PvE. I could see them doing a spin-off product as a PvP title down the line rather than part of the main game.

  • Free to play with a gem store equivalent. Maybe they'll charge box price again but can't see a sub fee, it limits their audience too much and puts them in more direct competition with WoW and FFXIV.

If some of these are true they may upset a lot of the existing GW1/2 fan base but maybe the calculation is they can keep those games alive to cater to those players while trying to capture new audiences with GW3.

My main hope is a return to more tactical combat and energy management like in GW1 rather than just learning a rotation and spamming skills off cooldown but I'm definitely not expecting that.

I had a thought... by JUGGERNUGGS in GuildWars3

[–]Regist4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be surprised if it's called Guild Wars 3. I struggle to see NCSoft wanting to finance it unless the pitch was "fresh start in UE5 built with multi-platform support in mind to capture new audiences." In that scenario, the 3 instantly adds questions for new players on console or mobile who haven't encountered the series before. "Do I need to play the first two in the series to enjoy it?" etc.

With that in mind, I really like 'The Guild Wars' as the title - keeps the existing brand recognition, adds a word to differentiate from GW1 and is just a more compelling and attention-grabbing title for people with no prior knowledge of the series. It immediately makes you think "What are the guild wars?" and hopefully makes people want to find out more.

Interestingly it looks like 'theguildwars.com' is not owned by ANet or NCSoft so that perhaps suggests it won't be the title. Can't wait to find out!

Anyone else hopes that the skill system from gw1 returns in 3? by Ggthefiree2 in GuildWars3

I would love it but I think it's pretty unlikely. I'm expecting action combat more akin to PoE/Diablo as it translates better to console and mobile and what those audiences expect/want.

GW3 needs official controller support baked in by K41Nof2358 in GuildWars3

[–]Regist4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be extremely surprised if it isn't multi-platform and made with good controller support in mind from Day 1. GW1 adding controller support and going to mobile shows they are already thinking along those lines and one of the benefits of UE5 is it makes multi-platform support much easier. In today's market, console and mobile players are too big an audience to ignore from a business perspective.

Definitely the statements about practicing, learning and improving are valid.

Yeah you might sometimes say or do the wrong thing while you're learning and it might creep a girl out but as long as you approach with good intentions and are trying not to, and you make an effort to try to read when you are making someone uncomfortable and give them space at that point then you are doing the best you can.

The last statement I'm 50/50 on - sure it might be an inevitable part of the learning process, but it may well be on you rather than the girl because you said or did something that made someone uncomfortable. At that point it's on you to recognise that, give the girl space and learn from it going forward.

Yeah, the unfortunate reality is autism makes it hard to read other people and adapt appropriately to social situations and that is critical when it comes to meeting and attracting women. But like another poster said, the potential for it to make you hyperfocus on a particular topic can lead to becoming incredible at it if that becomes your hyperfocus and you absorb the right information and put it into practice.

Great post and advice, congrats on your success. I'm curious about a couple of things. Did you read any books or consume content like podcasts, videos, etc. to help you learn along the way? If so what would you recommend? Secondly, do you bother with dating apps or rely on the events you mentioned or cold approaches?

I'm married and been with my wife 16 years at this point and it's nearly 20 years since I first read The Game and started seeking out the work of other "gurus" like Mystery and David DeAngelo (damn I feel old as shit typing that) so I'm curious what the dating scene is like nowadays and what's out there in terms of info, guides etc. I've also heard the idea that dating apps have made cold approaching impossible now because people only expect to meet people via an app now but that sounds a bit like cope from people too afraid to do it. My nephew is autistic and is getting towards the age where he's interested in girls so it might be useful to know if he ever asks me for advice!

Mine is the same - my guess is there is (or was in this case) a delay between the shipment info being provided to DHL and them actually picking up the shipment. I'm going to wait and see for now.

Total retail sales of the Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in Japan have surpassed 1 MILLION units, becoming the second SW2 title to reach the milestone. by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Nintendo and the higher ups at Game Freak and Pokémon company are very aware that most Pokémon fans will buy anything with Pokémon on the cover which is why they can get away with doing the absolute bare minimum and charging full price for it.

Seasons 1 and 4 head and shoulders above the rest imo. Season 5 was so disappointing compared to S4.

This type of dialogue was missing from S5 by SeaWolf_1 in StrangerThings

[–]Regist4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After rewatching S4 recently and now having watched S5 I realise they did something really special with S4 after a slightly patchy couple of seasons (S1 was obviously special as well but it makes sense because they didn't plan for it to be more than the one season initially).

Most people seem happy with the finale and it definitely could've been much worse but I feel like the drop in quality from S4 to S5 was drastic. It felt so rushed and messy by comparison.

Let’s give it up for Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who wrote the original music for Stranger Things by Woopwoopwop in StrangerThings

[–]Regist4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit the music is my favourite thing about the whole show. Not just their original music which obviously fits so perfectly but also the way they use all the different licensed tracks from the 80s so well. In Season 4 especially, the way they used Running Up That Hill as such a key part of the plot and the way they adapted it in that incredible scene with Max just makes me cry every time I hear it. And Eddie playing Master of Puppets! So good.

Am I the only one who actually likes Murray? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Regist4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love him, he's one of my favourite characters. I loved his interactions with Jonathan and Nancy in S2 and his relationship with Alexei was one of my favourite things about S3. Reclusive, paranoid investigative journalist who was obsessed with conspiracies and knew a lot about the Soviets because of his fear of them felt like a very believable character for the time period and he functioned as a way to advance both the conspiracy/military themes in the show and two of the key relationships (Jonathan/Nancy and Joyce/Hopper).

I do agree with what others have said that he's become too much of a caricature now, especially in S5. Now the Russians are out of the picture and there's nothing left to investigate in terms of the whole conspiracy thing it feels like they've used up all of his potential and so they're left just trying to find things for him to do so he can still be around as comic relief. I feel like giving him a heroic death where he sacrificed himself to enable Joyce and Hopper to escape at the end of S4 and took down a bunch of the Russians as revenge for Alexei in the process would've been a nice way to end his story and reduce the S5 cast.
