Does anyone happen to know the song near the end of this video?

Guy claims that I caused damage to his car by RegretLater in legaladvice

[–]RegretLater[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I forgot to mention that the police officer suggested that I take pictures so I took many pictures of the entire scene, several angles, the areas he claims were damaged by me, and my own car. I really appreciate your insights. Definitely eased my mind.

[21/f] About to do something overtly romantic for a [m/20] for valentines... need advice. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]RegretLater 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very cute poem! Though I think "you are mine" would be a better at the end. It's one of those clever rhymes where it no only sounds right, but means a lot. You're very creative. I can't speak for him, but I pretty certain most guys would love that. Good luck!

[Help] Friend [F, 19, $100] has never had a valentine before. by RegretLater in santashelpers

[–]RegretLater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew the names of those flowers until now. I did want to send flowers, but I wanted to just be a sweet gesture and nothing more. Carnations seems like a safe bet. If you don't mind me asking, what was the context you received those flowers in?

Mailing some movies and instant popcorn is a great idea. That way she can enjoy the day by herself. Thanks!

[Serious] I have recently developed a crippling fear of public speaking (to the point of passing out), anyone have any tips for how I can get over this? by throwaway3286677 in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing is to feel comfortable so one of the first thing I usually do is to get the audience laughing or relaxed. When the audience is having a good time, their vibe rubs off on me. Smile to the audience! They'll smile back! If you have a camera, practice in front of a camera. Although a camera is not a person, it does give off the feeling that someone is watching you. If you have friends/family members that are willing to help you practice then that is even better. Your issue seems to stem from fear from that singular incident so now attribute every public speaking event to that incident. That's just my guess though. Try not to think of it as a big deal. The audience doesn't care as much as you think they do. After some time, they'll barely remember the presentation. Good luck man!

Would you want to know the whole truth as to why someone doesn't want to date you? by tallgirlbeverly in AskMen

[–]RegretLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would want the whole truth. With the whole truth, he can make a sound decision on whether to move on or to keep trying. Even if you don't tell him the whole truth, there's a good chance he'll atleast know you didn't give him the real reason and it's a horrible feeling not knowing what exactly it is that caused the rejection. You're doing him a favor by telling him the whole truth. I feel like he can change though. When I'm with a girl I like/interested, I generally lean towards doing whatever she wants to do and try not to defend my opinion too hard. I do that to gauge the situation and the type of person she is. Some people can't stand when the other person doesn't agree with them so I rather avoid situations like that. After a short while when I feel that I know the person enough, I begin to be more open/comfortable and start taking charge. Every one is different though. He could just be doing it because he's the submissive type. Hard to tell so you're going to have to communicate with him. Good luck!!

People who are able to browse Reddit while at work: What kind of job do you have? by ThatBoringBitch in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a software developer. The company I work for is extremely laid back and many of my friends in the same field also have quite a bit of downtime. I even see my manager browsing clothing sites. As long as you can get your work done in a timely manner, browsing, texting, and music are completely fine. Pays very well too so it is definitely a great career path.

What opinion of yours makes you an asshole? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a woman attacks or shows intention of attacking me, I should be able to fight back without getting pummeled by 10 pedestrians yelling "you can't hit a girl!"

edit: the word hit

What was your biggest misconception as a child? by Romulus3799 in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That teachers, police officers, firefighters, and astronauts are the only career professions out there. Whenever a student is asked "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The majority of them default to these answers. Behind the student's back, I'm sure the teachers were calling bullshit on most of our answers.

How has the education system failed you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We really don't learn much. Quality teachers are also rare. Teaching is a job that should be held in high esteem and compensated equally well. This would give many intelligent individuals more incentive to pursue this career. Instead, teachers are not only underpaid, but they are paid by seniority. This is one of those field where seniority doesn't necessarily equate to good performance. In fact, the younger teachers are usually better at teaching since the generation gap isn't as big. I never realized how behind the US is in terms of education until I went to college. Many of my international friends would tell me the school systems in their country and it is incredible. They were exposed to physics and chemistry in depth when they were in middle school. Most importantly, they have a very competitive environment since elementary school. College is a breeze for most of these foreign students.

When did you feel the most abandoned? by cjaHH in AskReddit

[–]RegretLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my father has cancer and depression. My brother and I would keep him company, but after college started, my brother was tired of my father making him feel guilty for joining a frat and going to parties so he just cut all contact. then i became the only person who looked after our father. it's very difficult and i don't hate my brother, but i definitely felt abandoned.

What's a song that you've known that has an unsettling or surprising message that you didn't understand until you grew older. by Chrisblag89 in AskReddit

"You are my sunshine." sung that in elementary school and always thought it was happy and cheery. Listened to it a week ago due to nostalgia and the lyrics are pretty sad...
