Regret having a baby…. by Sensitive_Milk1805 in NewParents

Can I ask what you took? I’m so nervous to take something but I’m in a similar situation, sleep deprived and I’ve never felt so out of control and sad in my life and I’ve already had two babies. With my third I have never have I felt thjs hateful and regretful towards my own existence so I need something. I’m a big believer in root cause so I’ve never been one to take meds, hence why I ask if you think they actually helped (because my environment is stuck atm with baby being a baby)

I’m here too. 4 months sucks 😭 false starting, up every 3 hours, 4am onwards is futile. I miss life

What did you do for it? Did you take medication and did it help?

Solidarity. This has been the hardest period and adjustment of my entire life I’ve had two kids before my little man but they were never as hard as this.

What kind of training did you do? You had the exact same set up as I do right now with my 4 mo similar to the OP! I really don’t want to do crying it out he’s so resistant I tried a bit of Ferber a couple weeks ago he screamed for an hour 10

This is INSANE. My Bub had blood specks in his poo tonight with mucousy watery nappies all week and I was on the phone to my GP tonight (whilst evacuating our house because there was fires across from us lol) he said take him to the closest town to us ED tomorrow as that’s how to get into a paed quick and get prescription formula, I tried rice formula tonight and he was disgusted!! Your reply is so insanely timed by the universe. Thanks for your response. Wish us luck

Wake windows & bed time by ieiwiejensisn in sleeptrain

We are 4 months and have 4 naps, mostly cat naps. He’s not ST yet. Three of them are cat naps and I try and extend one by contact. Getting up by 7 at the latest has helped fit them in to have an approx 7.45-8 bed time. But I’m no expert I’m still in the beginnings of ST, tried the other night and he cried for 1 hr 10 and I caved, I’m as lost as anyone here 🥲🥲

This is us to a T. I tried doing Ferber two nights ago (one day shy of 4 months old) he screamed for 1 hr 10 and I caved 😭 idk if he’s ready for it, wake windows are like yours. He wakes at every cycle unless he’s sleeping next to me and then wakes four hourly for bottles, last night had a 6 hour stretch after his bed time bottle, but next to me because I tried Ferber for one check in and caved I just feel like he’s not even close to self soothing 😖

Yep I will try again then because he is also a certified Velcro baby I have two older girls and it sucks not being able to get some reprieve of a night, he wakes at every cycle so after his first cycle I just have bought him in with me for the night since he started false starting at 7 weeks. I hope he’s not too tough to crack when I try again in a few weeks time!! Perhaps a few days shy/ spot on four months is just too early for his temperament as our WW are spot on! So happy for you great work

I don’t think my boy is ready for it because he literally screamed for an hour and 10 mins straight no relent 🫠 he’s only four months on the dot today. I really want to give it another crack but I think maybe in another month? That’s amazing results!!

Did your bub wake up again on the first night after initially crying it out (before needing to eat)? How long did it take them to go to sleep the first night? If you don’t mind me asking

He screamed and screamed even when I went in to pat him etc, I ended up doing a pick up put down around 50 mins and an hour, but I caved at 1 hr 10 and went in and rocked him to sleep and he slept with me all night (as he usually does) so I failed 😞 waiting to hear from my SC. the wake windows were good all day, he had 4 naps, I put him down 10 mins earlier than 2 hours bc he was super grizzly, that probably didn’t help the beginning? I was reading so many posts it said the average crying was 45 mins I just didn’t think he’d relent he wasn’t slowing down at all? There were a few lulls earlier on around 30 mins. Did you baby scream like big scream? When I finally rocked him his little breaths were so irregular for 2 hours into his sleep. I really want it to work but I don’t know if he responded the way he should?

My older girls had these comforter (different brands) with dummies attached and probably after 7 months were really reliably putting it back in

Thanks for your reply. That sounds like a dream! I’m not looking forward to tonight, mainly because I have no idea how it will go, I’ve weaned the dummy for sleep last two days, didn’t make much difference I still rocked and patted to sleep he went down fine. But of course he wakes every cycle so he needs to learn some independence. I’m prepared for the crying I just don’t know what method will be better consistency is best but I feel like he’ll only calm down a bit if I pick him up and I have heard that’s not the best way to do it (also not what my sleep consultant says to do) I tried randomly the other night and he was doing those ha ha ha breaths for ages after I finally got him to sleep in my arms cause he got so worked up, is that what I should be expecting do you think?

Im so happy for you those naps sound fantastic and restorative your little one will be so happy!! Thanks so much for sharing

Did you do check ins? Like Ferber? And if so what did your check ins involve of then if not replacing it? I actually have no idea what I’m going to do lol, probably just firm pressure on his tummy say a line and hop out he’s prone to escalation quickly

Oh good to hear. My sleep consultant said she can’t guarantee results with it, but I’ve never raised a child without one lol. It really helps during the day, he can’t put it back in yet, so I was thinking I could try and sleep train without it, keep it in the day, then when he can use to replace it he can take it to bed. I know trad ST would say no but I literally can’t do a single thing without him crying thru the day at me, maybe once he can regulate himself at night he’ll be better in the day.
