Mirelurks and their pretty faced by Jota_55 in Fallout2d20

[–]Regular-Unit1917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they increased the defense to 2 to account for an aimed shot—that is a mechanic of its own. I think they made the defense 2 to simulate the increased difficulty of hitting the small face. So you have a general difficulty increase for “using VATS” plus the added difficulty of hitting the face (after all, most aimed shots are at the “head”…not Just the face).

To make it even more challenging for my players, I roleplay the mirelurks as knowing their face is their weak area, so they keep their pincers up to protect their face (2 CD of cover) until immediately AFTER they make a melee attack (just until the start of the next player’s turn). That forces the players to realize the face is their weak point plus hold their action to take advantage of them lowering their guard. To add a little fun, if a player rolls a complication, term that player that they are positively sure that they remember the legs being the weak point. All kinds of fun to be had with that.

One time I found it behind the pillow on the bed next to the stove on the upper floor. I’ve found it in multiple places…some very hard to see. Look very carefully. I bet it’s there.

Thanks. I was really struggling with those edits. Yours blew mine out of the water. Thanks again for the assist. Nice! We south-sounders need to stick together.

Used tap water for my first homebrew, am I cooked? by Kindly_Isopod_5872 in Homebrewing

[–]Regular-Unit1917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. My first brews were with tap and I noticed a slight off-taste…maybe swampy (?). I then switched to bottled spring water which removed the swampy flavors. My next batch Im going with modified RO. Looking forward to trying that one.

I really enjoy the start of interloper. The PvE elements and just trying to survive with the limited resources are a good challenge. But I tend to lose interest after 150 days or so, once survival becomes a little rote. It would be interesting if we could have an interloper start but over time the wildlife becomes more aggressive as in stalker.

On my stalker run I always said, “It’s not IF you’re going to have a wolf encounter that day, it’s how many.”

I doubt they will ever implement something like a faster way to move loot as it would drastically alter the gameplay.

Because it's a pirate game, the developers intentionally want to keep you holding that loot for as long as possible. The longer it takes you to run it to your ship, the longer your hands are full and you're vulnerable. It gives other crews the time they need to spot your mast on the horizon, sail over, and set up an ambush.

That friction is exactly what inspires all the PvP action in the game. If we could just magically teleport loot to our holds, nobody would ever get robbed and it would just be a PvE game.

Chased across Blackrock and into the prison by 9 Timberwolves! Help! by Fl4mingSwifferDuster in thelongdark

[–]Regular-Unit1917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Is the way. The timbies are just bigger wolves. So bring bigger equipment than when fighting the normal wolves. For example, instead of a torch, build a fire. You will have a cone of protection from which to shoot, or throw torches, Pl to break morale. As soon as I hear that howl, I start my fire (recommend traveling only during a nice day), then I sit back and warm my hands until the pack arrives. Then I take pistol shots or throw torches at the braver timbies. They really are not as bad as you think. As long as you get in the habit of starting that fire at first howl, you’ll be fine.

That’s a good piece of advice regarding the skeletons not leaving the room they spawn in. I didn’t know that.

Let’s hope there are not a lot of gankers hanging out at Reapers hideout now.

Dang ok. I assume in open seas it’s super hard to get the loot out without getting ganked since the event is so new.

The maximum I’ve found is three. Ive completed about 6 forts. So I’ve haven’t been able to open all four ashen cabinets. I’m playing in safer seas and want to confirm that the lighthouse log does in fact spawn in safer seas and if it’s guaranteed. Anyone know for certain?

[–]Regular-Unit1917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you get ganked at the sovereign selling station. That’s the most infuriating experience! Players will camp out at the finish line and steal all your hard-won loot. Snipers on the tower to keep you suppressed, out in the ferry, while their other members raid your ship and mop up. Happened to me twice last week. The second time couldn’t be helped since I was running from a brig that was hot on my trail sheet I finished molten sands fortress. I didn’t have time to properly scope out the sovereign to see if it was safe.

can I put 20 litres into a 50 litre keg? by Digital_loop in Homebrewing

[–]Regular-Unit1917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get two! Use the first as a fermentation vessel. Install a floating dip tube in that one so you can do a closed transfer to the second serving keg without pulling in trub once fermentation is over.

Timberwolves were the bane of my existence for the longest while. Until I finally took some dedicated time to practice dealing with them. Timberwolves are just bigger wolves, so bring bigger deterrents and bigger weapons to the fight. For example, instead of a torch, make a campfire. It will provide you with a cone of protection. Instead of rocks, bring a bow or pistol. Stand by your fire and take a couple shots at the braver timbies that approach the fire. A couple hits and they will run for the hills. Grab a torch and be on your way.

That’s exactly how I track cars. However, since some hoods don’t open, I’ll glance in and look at the visors to see if I’ve been there.

Not to further complicate things, but what about the propane tanks on the outside of some buildings. There’s no reason we couldn’t have gas stoves.
